Re: ssh from nt?

2000-09-02 Thread Ryan Losh
Hello:
The only windows ssh clieht I've used is teraterm with the
ttssh extension. I don't have an URL handy, but if you go to
google.com and search for teraterm, you'll find teraterm's home page.
There are links from there for the ttssh. Best of all, its free
software!!

gnome-terminal F-Keys???

2000-02-07 Thread Ryan Losh
Hello all:

I was wondering how I change the F-Keys on gnome-terminal so that
F1 through F4 send the correct xterm codes, and not the Linux console
codes. Does anyone out there know how to accomplish this??

As it stands now, F1 Through F4 send \EOP \EOQ \EOR and \EOS .
Nearly every other *nix out there has their xterms send \E[11~ \E[12~
\E[13~ and \E[14~ . How do I get a gnome-terminal to do this? I've tried
changing the termcap and re-tic'ing it, but that doesn't work.

Thanks

Help with cable modem...

2000-01-16 Thread Ryan Losh
Hello:

I am scheduled to have Road Runner service installed next wednesday.
I've gone to the trouble of building a decoy box with Windows 95 installed
so that the installer doesn't give me any trouble when he/she's here to install
the service. I live in Topeka, Kansas, and I don't think Linux is *THAT* wide
spread here, yet. I was just wondering if anyone could point me to a good
(preferably Debian specific) HOWTO for getting a debian box
working with the service...

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thank you

[Off Topic] DVD Playback under Debian...

2000-01-10 Thread Ryan Losh
Hello:
I know this is not Debian specific, but I was hoping some kind
person would help me...

I just put together a new AMD Athlon based system. Here's my
configuration: 600 Mhz Athlon, MSI mother board, 128M ECC memory,
3dFx Voodoo3 3000 AGP video, Toshiba ATAPI DVD drive, Symbios 895 SCSI
w/Quantum 10,000 U160 9.1G HD.

I've been out to http://www.opendvd.org, and I followed their
DVD on Linux HOWTO. The only DVD I have is South Park, Bigger Longer
Uncut. I can get the player to play the first 10-15 seconds (the screen
is mostly scrambled, but I can see enough of the video to see that it's
South Park). However, the tstdvd commands all indicate that the
disk and title keys were successfully obtained. Also, I don't seem to
get any sound.

Has anyone gotten the DVD stuff for Linux working any better
than this??? Does anyone have any pointers??

potato + Star Office + Printing???

1999-08-31 Thread Ryan Losh
Hello:
I've seen the glibc2.1 in potato break and then fix Star Office
5.1 several times. The current version (2.1.2-0pre12) seems to break
the printing in Star Office. It has worked with 2.1.2-0pre9 (I think).
What should I do to try to fix this???

[Lengthy instructions for tricking Star Office 5.0[1] into executing on a
  glibc2.1 system deleted]

I'd like to know if *ANYONE* out there has gotten Star Office 5 to *PRINT*
on a potato system running glibc2.1??? If so, would you please post your
recipe to this list. **EXECUTING** Star Office is of little value to
(most) people, if you CANNOT PRINT FROM IT!!
