Configuration packages

2000-04-04 Thread Sin Hang Kin

I just finished install debian 2.1 from the net.

Now I have a mostly working system. However, some
of them are still not working : samba do not receive my password, my squid not
working, etc.

I have looked in /usr/doc with each respective
documents, they are just the original documents, they do not tell what changes
is made to debian packages, and what packages were need to further customerize.

Is there a way to known which packages need to turn
before they work?

Mixing CVS and debian packages

2000-04-04 Thread Sin Hang Kin

What should I do when I want most of the system
working by debian packages but want to keep some of them (namely: python,
mgetty, zope, samba) update-to-date.

I think I need to take care some dependent problem
with dselect and also making these compatible with the rest of the system by
changing the configuration files.

Does anyone have a good solution? Some guidelines
for doing these in debian?

APT URLS

Does the default APT urls give me access to the
recommended update to r2.1?

If not, what should I need to change?

Loading Modules

1996-05-27 Thread Sin Hang Kin
I have debian 0.9R6 installed. I am loading many modules.

I noticed that Debian load modules listed from the /etc/modules.
However, how could I pass parameters to them?

Does things changes on 1.1? Since I would like to upgrade after it is
out.

By the way, does the 1.1 make use of less instead of more?

Thank You,

Kent Sin.

Dear Linuxer,

I have try with several NE2000 compatible cards with 10BaseT and BNC

fine with the BNC interface.

I did not find information in the Ethernet-Howto. Does anybody know
the problem and solution?
