 Look into the specs, but I guess many manufacturers will keep around a

Install Debian on a UEFI-motherboard ?

2012-09-10 Thread Tom Rausner
Hi Folks.
I have a tower PC with a serious motherboard problem.
It is unable to pass data from one place (say the harddisk)
to another (say a CDROM), without drowning it in errors.
I think some pathways in the motherboard is broken, so I want to
replace it. BUT most of the motherboards on the market doesn't
have an old-style BIOS, they've got the UEFI-thing. So the question
is; can I replace my motherboard with one infested with the UEFI-thing
and get a Debian install to work on it ?

snip
libnss3-1d er i forvejen den nyeste version.(danish meaning; libnss3-1d is
already the newest version)

This indicates the file being in the box and upgradet to latest version
which is great... BUT when I type
'evolution' in the CLI, I get this result;

root@Colossus:/home/tom# evolution
evolution: error while loading shared libraries: libnss3.so.1d: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory.

If I type it in my own CLI, the result is just the same;

tom@Colossus:~$ evolution
evolution: error while loading shared libraries: libnss3.so.1d: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

By the way my clock_applet in the Gnome-panel has been taken out as well.

I'm non the wiser. Any thoughts anyone ?

Bug #855725 ;

Evolution does not start after the latest updates (evolution: error while
loading shared libraries: libnss3.so: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or directory)
OK, there is a slight difference. Their problem is libnss3.so and not
libnss3.so.1d... but it seems very related.
Are we having a bug in Evolution too, or is it running smoothly
everywhere.. apart from here ?

lost libnss3.so.1d

2012-07-23 Thread Tom Rausner
Hi !

I've been messing around tweaking a few things on my box (backporting and
stuff).
Along the way I've made some error or other, cause now my evolution refuses
to
start. I leaves this message;

evolution: error while loading shared libraries: libnss3.so.1d:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

It seems I've caused something to delete some directory. The file libnss3.so
exists, living in the directories;

/usr/lib/libnss3.so and  /usr/lib64/libnss3.so

I've tried making soft links to them, but still no cigar. Would anybody
care to
push me in the right direction ?

System info attached.

All help will be highly appreciated.

 - From what I can find it seems like XMPP would probably be the best bet
 for this... is there no program you can run with something like a
