The report was quite positive in whole. For a fledgling program that is only starting on a few routes this is not surprising. You can see the video of the press conference at the following link. Steven Rainwater deserves much appreciation. rr Trading Date : Dec 12 2006 Company Name : CHEF SELECTIONS INC Symbol : CFSC.PK Current Price : $0.1 2 WEEK PROJECTION : $1 Recommendation : 200-400% rr The co-operative has also done well selling flat screen TVs. Eray should do legal action if he doesn't agree with that. If they switch supplier the website will often make a commission. Toronto will only see progress on the Bike Plan if the next Mayor and council make it a priority. The greater choice the greater opportunity there is for customers, he added. The ideas are out there, the code is out there, and I'm more than willing to help. But at least six companies have since obtained blocking injunctions, claiming the measure is unconstitutional. A report has already been done at Councillor Ootes request on the usage of the bike lane after it was put in. Given that the global economy and US growth cooling, it is astonishing to see a level like this. they don't understand that the instructions must be followed to the letter. You're being a bit cynical. and the 'nice pretty windowey whizzey' stuff actually detracts from that. The GPL requirements for notices to be kept intact are part of the license for people who do not own the code. so of course, the schools got destroyed, and the homes of the owners - so the schools owners are penniless - and it's a business, so they're not going to get compensated! But unfortunately there is no such loan available at the same value as the old Cahoot one. Large supermarkets, which provide a wider range of non-grocery items at cheaper prices also pose a threat. The bumps are not of the gently-inclined variety frequently seen in traffic-calming schemes around Toronto neighbourhoods, but are quite steep and dangerous for a cyclist to traverse at any speed. There the TCAT plan to make toronto a walking and cycling city was endorsed by leading health environmental and business organizations. We discussed the two issues and felt that only the speed bumps on the road behind Sunnybrook Hospital warranted our intervention. On google proper it to be found but the article seems to be cut off from related content and they find less hits on it. For a fledgling program that is only starting on a few routes this is not surprising. The research is geared to making them more environmentally-sensitive and more effective. This phase will see the trail continued from the eastern edge of Marilyn Bell Park to the Western edge of Ontario Place. they don't understand that they must be followed in sequence. Uswitch will hold talks with Energywatch in the next few days and says it is confident the firm will be fully compliant. Mr Darling explained why the UK government was backing the project, calling British excellence in aerospace design, development and delivery world renowned. A city where cycling and walking are safe and enjoyable is a great place to live. In reality, most are likely to fail to do so due to worse than expected investment returns. A few users have expressed their desire to see it continue but not many. I am trying to learn more about the Marinus VanPopering family that arrived in New York from the Netherlands in 1852. Although there were at least two VanPopering families that settled in Sayville and West Sayville, I am interested most in the Dutch origin of Marinus (b. 1814) and his son Dingeman (Dingman) born in 1846 or 1847). Does the library have resources that might help me? If there is reference material, I would be most willing to pay the cost of search, reproduction and mailing. Most sincerely, Andrew M. Hendry

Wins with DHCP
Hi, I have a debian firewall set up as a dhcp server, dhcp3. Recently I set up a wireless subnet along with my wired subnet. Now windows machines on the wired subnet can't see the wireless machines for purposes of file sharing and vice versa. All machines can ping each other. Sounds like a WINS issue from what I've managed to gather. I've seen hints that I may be able to do something to the dhcp server on my debian firewall to handle the WINS stuff between the subnets but I'm a little lost. I'd appreciate a pointer to a relevant FM to R if anyone is aware of which FM it might be :) = -Alice Also _cute_ and _fluffy_!!! dhcp/ethernet question
hi, I'm trying to set up a firewall to connect to my cable modem ISP (comcast) using DHCP I've got a 3c905 ethernet card and I've got the 3c59x module running. I've got the auto eth0 and iface eth0 inet dhcp lines in the /etc/network/interfaces file. The ethernet cable is plugged in on both ends, the cable modem is plugged in and it has lights. I am getting a 'weirdness' and I'm not sure if it's on the DHCP end or the ethernet end. Basically if I do an ifconfig the ethernet card is entirely missing the line that would begin with inet addr. It's not blank, it's not there with a 0.0.0.0 address, it's just not there. basically it looks like this eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:60:97:97:E9:92 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1298 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:1298 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:443916 (433.5 KiB) Interrupt:10 Base address:0xff00 I realize that there's other information that may be necessary but I'm not sure what else might be particularly relevant at this pint Is there anything off the top of anyone's head that would suggest what area I should be directing my troubleshooting? thanks = -Alice Also _cute_ and _fluffy_!!! Is the grub in woody the 'gnu grub' or is it 'the grub off which gnu grub is based'? (Just making sure I'm reading the right online comments/info/docs) or... another way to look at it... does anyone know a way to pack up a set of info docs so that it could be read on a windows box? I think they're thinking about windows but I figured I'd doublecheck on whether it was possible lilo might still be the culprit after all - check your bios ... that you have hde listed I'm not sure what you mean here. I did it.... and... I don't know how...
I had this image earlier today that if I actually figured out how to get the darn 60g hd to boot up that I would come here to the lists and newsgropus where I've been trying to get help and lay out what I did for any future users of tpx4 mbs trying to install promise ultra cards... little did I know that I somehow had already solved the problem... I had decided to try one more piece of advice and in preparation I was going to once more copy everything from the old hd to the new in case I'd managed to pick up anything in the time since I'd last copied files earlier this week. I checked /newroot ... yep, empty, haven't mounted it yet... ok I mount /dev/hde1 on /newroot and copy over the fstab and lilo.conf files to temporary locations in / figuring that I'm going to wipe out /dev/hde1 and recopy everything over but I want to save the work I've been doing on those two files... Lilo Q
As I'm continuing to try and troubleshoot a hd that doesn't seem to want to boot (promise ultra card, 60g hd) I just wanna doublecheck one thing If I don't even get a LI or L or _something_ from lilo it's definitely not a lilo problem and it's somewhere further up in the pipeline? Or could there possibly be a lilo-related problem such that I wouldn't even be get a smidgen of a prompt (and would any situation where attempts to put lilo into an mbr involve squawks of '/dev/hde1 is not on the first disk' be even more likely candidates for situations where it could be a 'lilo problem' without any smidgen of a prompt showing up?) oh, and it's lilo 22.2-3 -Alice (just checking) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. More boot from scsi w/ Promise ultra qs
Hmm my bios has a place to choose booting from scsi first instead of ide but even when I choose that there are no boot lineup (A,Cdrom,C; A,C; and such) choices that have 'scsi' in them... most of the directions I've seen where the one giving the directions used the 'boot from scsi' option to enable booting from their promise ultra involved changing to something like a A,Scsi,C or something. lilo and booting from /dev/hde question
Yeah it's me again :) ok... got everything copied over to the new big disk on /dev/hde Next obstacle is there a way to use lilo to boot from /dev/hde when it's the only hard drive on the system without doing that ide=reverse line? I tried just setting the root to /dev/hde1 on a boot floppy and I got some message about not being able to boot from device 300 or something (sorry, I was too busy trying to figure out how to get access to my hd again to think to write it down exactly :/ ) See, the current hd I have is hda and I'm not sure how that ide=reverse line would affect things while I'm testing Should I just edit the fstab and lilo on _that_ hd to act as if everything is on hda and use the ide=reverse in that hd's lilo.conf? My current hd is in a drawer so I can just pull it out before I try to boot from the new hd. -Alice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? You have more than one IDE card in the machine, yes? And you're trying to set up the system to use, at most, eight IDE drives? The kernel is going to have to recognize the card and set up the connections - usually done during bootstapping. During boot, does it recognize: 1) The card (Promise Ultra) 2) /dev/hde ? 'dmesg' should tell you. OTOH, if you mean the 60g drive is new and is what is referred to in first use, and you just plugged it into the IDE connectors on the mother board, you may want to use dmesg and see if it's on a different device, such as /dev/hdc or /dev/hdd. I don't understand why you had to make /dev/hde unless you have more than one IDE operational controller in your system. Elizabeth Let me clarify I have one hard drive, 2g. It's almost full. I would check for a bios update, that might help out a bit. All this said, It seems to be detected properly, but the partition table may be corrupt. Also it seems that hde is set to pio while hdh is set to dma. Is this normal? I thought most hard drives used dma. This may have something to do with your problem. logging interaction between minicom and modem
Is there a way to log the interaction between minicom and modem similar to what chat sends to ppp.log and syslog? Ever since I upgraded to potato last weekend chat hasn't gotten along with my modem (external 57600 USR sportster) when I look in ppp.log or syslog I see things about chat sending it a AT or ATZ and expecting an OK and instead getting an alarm. if I use minicom I can dial in fine, and run pppd after quitting minicom without resetting the modem, but I'd rather not use this as a long-term solution, so I was wondering if there was some way I could see if minicom is sending different commands to the modem than chat is to see if I need to be using different commands (or it could be that minicom dials when one tells it to dial whether the modem sent an OK after initialization or not) other odd things the first couple of days after I upgraded I was able to connect using ppp-calling-chat if I removed the ppp package and re-added it this is odd and moreso because that hasn't worked other than those first two times I've tried removing the potato version of the ppp package and reinstalling the old version of ppp that I was using under slink but that doesn't seem to help (oh, my kernel is 2.2.9. Occasionally I've gotten complaints about my module dependency file being newer than my module configuration file during this whole process... at some point while in the 'try anything' stage I recompiled my kernel, and changed ppp from being in kernel to being a module it didn't seem to make any difference but one never knows what difference it might have made that I'm not seeing) please let me know if there's any other information I could provide that would shed light on this. Again, I'm hoping that if there's some way to see what minicom is telling the modem the same way I can with chat then maybe I can get chat to say those things instead. -Alice (yes, we have some potato we have some potato today...)
continuing upgrade after losing connection
hi, I'm in the process of upgrading from slink to potato. I'm at the step where i'm doing apt-get --feixbroken --show-upgraded dist-upgrade. My isp is set up such that I only have a connection for up to 8 hours at a time. I ran the apt command overnight last night and got a lot of packages but it wasn't long enought to get everything. Is there way to indicate to apt-get which packages I now have in /var/cache/apt/archives so that it doesn't try to re-download them and starts with the files it doesn't already have? (please keep in mind that if any of the answer to this is in the man pages for apt-get, sources.list, or apt.conf that for whatever reason, I've never gotten those pages in my current installation and I can't find what package might have included them that I might e missing. That's one thing I'm really hoping will change with this upgrade, it's very frustrating not to be able to read parts of the FM for myself) here's a thought if I did a dpkg --get-selections filename and went in and editted it so that everything I already have is set to 'hold' and then did a dpkg --set selections filename would that non-dangerously do what I want to do, or does it have the potential to seriously F anything up? -Alice (come on potato... big upgrades... no whammies... no whammies...) - This message sent using EMUmail -- http://www.emumail.com - Jumping through hoops to get E-mail on the road? question about apt and slink-potato
I seem to be missing the man pages for apt-get on my slink box so I wondered for all intents and purposes what's the actual difference between doing apt-get dist-upgrade and just using dselect on a box where all the sources use the term 'stable' instead of 'slink' after potato has gone stable... (I have tried doing 'man apt-get' as root in case that made a difference, still nothing. I'm also missing pages for sources.list and apt.conf. g++ identity crisis, slink
Hi, I'm running slink and I was trying to 'make' some c++ programs I was messing around with the other day and discovered that even though my Makefile says to use g++, make was using cc to compile the programs. /usr/bin/g++ is a program, not a link to anything. If I rename /usr/bin/cc, make refuses to run. I did do a make -v to make sure it was GNU make, and it is. (someone mentioned to me that this might be an issue) Now, I vaguely remember something in setting up my system that might have had something to do with which compiler I liked or wanted to be default or something... but it's really hazy and I could be wrong. _Is_ there something like that in the debian set-up and, if so, is there a way to change/override it? -Alice Alice M. If anyone can think of any ways that it would have been easier to do all this or things that I might have to watch out for (besides having to hit 'R' and 'Q' in dselect a lot till the conflicts get worked out a bit more) because of how I did this, please speak up, I'd love to learn :) (and let's face it, in just about any linux isn't it true that the best way to learn is the ' *poke*, kewl :) *poke*, kewl :) *poke*, ... oops?' method? :) -Alice

ALT-TAB cycles through all windows and CTRL-TAB cycles through the desktops. Check the settings in the advanced windows properties section of the KDE Control Center. If that doesn't help then subscribe yourself to one of the KDE mailing lists and ask there. Thanks muchly, looking at the advanced windows properties section was exactly what I needed to do. (for one thing I hadn't realized that I hadn't been trying holding down the Alt key and just tapping the tab key) Again, thanks :) Alice M. Pinard Casco Indemnity Company [EMAIL PROTECTED]
slink-only system, kernel version ceiling?
At some point in the not-too-distant future I'm going to brave the wild and wooly world of kernel recompilation. (mostly for sound card and at some point a zip drive) If my system is still slink-only is there some kernel version beyond which I should not try to go? (in other words, is slink compatible with all the recent stable kernel versions out there?) Alice M. Pinard Casco Indemnity Company [EMAIL PROTECTED]
running programs as another user from menu
Got a strange question... is there a way to add a program to the menu in kde but run as another user? I'm considering setting up a portion of my mailing lists to go to a separate user account on my home computer so that I can have two pine sessions running at the same time, one for my 'regular' mail and one for this subset of mailing lists. Is there a way I can set up a menu item that access pine from that user's point of view while being logged in as my 'default' user? Or is the only way for me to do this to open up a konsole window, telnet to localhost, log in as that user and _then_ start pine? Q about netscape 4.7 and slink
Ok, last night I saw in the list archive where on Oct 12 someone (John Foster) said --I just installed the new Netscape 4.71 version on my Debian --Linuxserver. Just a report- It installs nicely with the Netscape4 --installer from Debian if you rename it to the proper convention. It --seems MUCH faster and more stable that all of the previous --versions I have used. now, what is the 'proper convention' he is referring to here... and does anyone know if the netscape4 installer he is referring to is the same one that's in slink? I've downloaded the netscape 4.7 tar.gz file from netscape and installed (using dselect) netscape-base and netscape4 and their req's.. but when I checked after the packages were installed (using find) there was nothing executable named netscape anywhere. (just some non-script in /etc/ I think) I thought maybe that I hadn't renamed the tar.gz file in whatever manner is being referred to above. I copied the tar.gz to someplace besides /tmp (so it wouldn't go *poof* when I logged back into the machine). Once I rename it however I need to what do I need to do to get netscape4 to install it. Alternatively, am I missing some _other_ crucial step? Alice M. Pinard Casco Indemnity Company [EMAIL PROTECTED]
slink and xfree86 3.3.5 questions
Ok, I installed debian on my system a few weeks ago with a slink cdrom. There has been some indication that some misbehavior by my Number Nine card might be because I'm not using XFree86 3.3.5 To put that on my system would I be leaving slink territory and heading into potato territory? Would it be best for now (if I'm not interested in totally upgrading to potato at this time) to maybe just swap the Number Nine out for the ET4000 I've got kicking around somewhere? Alice M. kdm hanging on return from console screen
Hi, I'm seeing a strange behavior on my computer. If I ctrl-alt-fX to any of the console screens while in kdm I can move around among console screens all I like, but if I try to go back to kdm it just sits there on a login prompt and won't go back to any other screens... it will respond to a ctrl-alt-del, however. I noticed this behavior also when I had slackware on this computer a few weeks ago with Xwindows. One of my friends said they thought it was my Number Nine series 2 video card that was the culprit, but before I try and hunt up another video card I thought I'd see if anyone could think of anything else I should try first. how to make KDM not start at bootup
Hi, I recently installed the slink version of debian. When I installed kdm (with apt-get) it set it up so that it starts on bootup. How do I get it so it only starts when I tell it to? Alice M. Pinard Casco Indemnity Company [EMAIL PROTECTED]
