can't get files for binary-i386-1_NONUS (potato)
Hi! I'm trying to create a pseudo-image of the official binary-i386- 1_NONUS disc (potato). I already downloaded about 630 MB, but I wasn't able to get following files, because I couldn't find them on any server: /doc/FAQ/html/ch-basic_defs.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-compat.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-contributing.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-customizing.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-faqinfo.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-ftparchives.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-getting.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-kernel.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-nexttime.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-pkgtools.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-pkg_basics.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-redistrib.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-software.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-support.html /doc/FAQ/html/ch-uptodate.html /doc/FAQ/html/footnotes.html Is there perhaps something I haven't noticed? /doc/FAQ/html/index.html

The easiest way I think is to boot with a DOS boot disk and make fdisk /mbr Christian
module problem
Hi! Can anybody tell me how (or where) the location of modules are referenced? Because I compiled and installed some modules, but if I try insmod module name I get a message that the module couldn't be found. But perhaps it's just a very dumb reason. Christian

Well, I'm new to Linux, too, and the first time I tried to install Debian, it was really a nerve-tracking process just getting the system nearly I wanted it to have. But day for day I really appreciate the transparency and full control of the system. Sadly I still have to run Windows, because there are no substitutions under Linux for many programs I'm using under Windows. If there would be, no one could hold me from freeing that space, Windows occupies on my disk. Just hoping this will change (soon)! Christian

I was wondering how to subscribe to napsterI am guessing because of the legal case against napster that one can not subscribe? I notice that newsgroups have a lot of files... any advice on how to find interesting sounds/music etc. I wasn't aware that they weren't accepting new accounts and/or users. Some days ago a friend of mine had the same problem, not being able to subscribe to napster. I just gave him my username and password and surprisingly we both could use napster at the same time, with the same username. But it does make sense, because the only thing that seems to matter is the ip adress. Anyway, it's surprising for me, that they don't check for already used usernames. But I won't complain. ;) Christian

Send reply to: Hall Stevenson [EMAIL PROTECTED] Forwarded by: debian-user@lists.debian.org Napster uses multiple servers, upwards of (50), I believe. I'd guess each one is pretty much stand-alone. They don't have ONE central authentication location. So, you and your friend may have been logged into seperate servers. Could you see each other ?? Probably not, huh ? Of course there are many servers (never mind how much), but I just didn't take into account that they are not synchronized.

RE: Wake Up on LAN
For WOL you need to know the node adress of the network card in the computer you want to wake up. Under Windows you can easily get it by winipcfg. But can someone tell me how to get it under linux? (newbie) how can I change the display resolution???
Hi! Can anybody help me how to change my display resolution? Right now I just have 640*480 with (I think) 16bpp, but I would like to have 1024*768 with at least 16bpp. Is it right that I just have to change something in the etc/XF86Conf ? I didn't change the values so far, because I don't want something to damage. I'm using a Diamond Viper 330 with 4MB RAM and a Fujitsu 17 Monitor (Type TE767B) with a sync range of 100-240 (hor) and 50-60 (vert) (at least that's printed on it's label). how can I add disk space?
Hello! I've got a samba-file-server whichs disk resources are getting very low, so I have to add new disk space. I've already tried to install a new HD and mounted it into /home (where all my samba datas are being saved). But the problem is now all datas are only written on the new HD instead of useing the disk space of both HDs. There must be a way to use both HDs' disk space, isn't there one?
