xmodmap does not seem to work. More info!!

1997-02-26 Thread hunnia
I found out that the problem is not really with th xmodmap.

Not using the special .Xmodmap file in the Red Hat, but pressing
the Scroll Lock key, the Sroll Lock LED does not come on.
This seem to indicate that the entries:

# LeftAlt Meta
   RightAlt ModeShift
# RightCtl Compose
   ScrollLock ModeLock

in XF86Config work properly, and the ScrollLock is used as a ModLock.

In Debian the ScrollLock LED is Activated by the SrollLock key.
Both the Xserver and the XF86Config files were copied from the
Debian to the Red Hat, so they are identical.

I renamed all the XF86Config files in debian except for the one
in /etc to XF86Config.bak to make sure that there is onli one
XF86Confi file.
It did not seem to help.
I am confused.

xmodmap does not seem to work

1997-02-24 Thread hunnia
I installed an .Xmodmap in my home (user) directory. It suppose
to switch between hungarian and us keyboard by the use of the scroll
lock key.

Called the file up as

xmodmap .Xmodmap

in the .xinitrc file.

It does not seem to map the keyboard.

XF86Config is set up correctly for the keyboard.

Using the same XF86Config and .Xmodmap file in the Red Hat distribution,
and activating it in the .xsession file brings success.

What is different in Debian.

Sandor.

P.S. I also tried using the full path names for xmodmap and .Xmodmap.

Re: RE:Debian install tkdesk etc..

1997-02-20 Thread hunnia
Try to 'dpkg -i --force-depends /path/to/the/package.deb'
the motifnls and tkdesk packages. At least the motifnls should
be OK this way, since you did have X installed. The tkdesk should
be OK too, I've got it working here... (1.2 from Infomagic Dec '9

That did it. Everythin is running.
Thankyou.

Sandor

I sent this from my new Debian Linux. :-)

Debian install tkdesk etc...

1997-02-19 Thread hunnia
I installed Debian from Infomagic winter edition.
Dselect worked properly, except it did not configure/install
4 packages. Two of them I mention here:

tkdesk. The complain is that it depends on xlib.
motifnls. The complain is that it depends on xbaseR6.

Now looking at the directories I see that X11/X11R6 is installed.
I tried ghostview and it works properly.
I even looked at the ftp site and saw that xlib6 depend on libc5.
I ftpd and unzipped the latest libc5 library. I still have the
problem.
What to do? (ftp on debian is not yet installed. for that I still
use Slackware.)
