Yo lo he instalado en una woody y aunque quiza no aproveche todas sus ventajas al menos cada vez que arranco tras un apagón el sistema se levanta perfectamente y sin tardanza. Por lo que a mi respecta los video los veo bastante bien, quizá algo más rápido que con ext2, pero esto es solo pura sensación. Saludo

Yo tengo una quickcam logitech express. El Usb funciona y la camara aparentemente también. El problema es que pasado unos segundos la imagen se congela pero aún no he resuelto el problema que no se si es problema del programa gqcam / awxtv o de la distribución o del kernel. Hola! Quiero aprender SGML /Docbook y quería instalar el editor thot http://savannah.gnu.org/projects/thotbook/ en woody. No he podido con los binarios me pide una libc6 o algo así y con los fuentes me da un error a pesar que el configure me da ok aunque me pide motif 1.2 o 2.0 ( tengo instalado lesstiff que aparentemente debería valer). I've snipped the relevant section from my .Xdefaults file in my home directory. RE:[SOLVED] Woody+ Ximian + Evolution
I have tried all that before thanks. At the end I`ve solved it. The problem was, that when I installed the first time I put in sources.list a link to Ximian(stable). As it didn't work I tried downloading ximian to a local directory. But this approach either didn`t work. I don`t know why I couldnn`t install Ximian on woody this way though it seems to work but didn`t have sawfish and it messed up. After all this I cleaned up my sources.list and erase every single packaged named *ximian* and get installed all *gnome* ones. After that evolution and gnome 1.4 works perfectly. But no ximian. I'll have to wait a little more to install it. Woody+ Ximian + Evolution
Hi All! I know that Ximian is supported only for potato buy I have been trying to install Ximian and Evolution on Woody with no success and a lot of effort and time waste. I have read I have tried the following: 1) Woody Gnome 1.4 + Evolution -: Always says cannot find the Database Shell 2) Woody + sources.list for ximian stable ( potato) -: A mess 3) Woody + Ximian for woody downloaded via ftp in a local dir and then install makeing dpkg --unpack -R and dpkg -f install -: This install Ximian but not evolution. When i tried to install it with dselect a lot of packages got deinstalled and and evolutions says the same error messages as in 1. Basically sawfish doesn`t work so when I start the desktop it complains about not having a proper window manager. 4) I have followed the FAQ at Ximian for the error in 1 but Ican realize what the problem is, everything seems Ok to me. does any one know how to install Ximan + evolution on woody in a stable or less prune to errors way ? is it possible? is there any need to point to unstable (sid) to make ximian /evolution work? Respecto a la preguntas he solucionado parte. 1) El problema fue que no me di cuenta que en el kernel 2.4.18 hay opciones distintas para Athlon y Pentium y yo tengo un athlon. Una vez entré con el disco de rescate y afortunadamente tenía el kernel antiguo por ahí fue coser y cantar. El problema fundamental es que el driver de Nvidia te lo bajas en fuente y lo compilas para crear un .deb que instala y como el kernel de la instalacion era distinto de las fuentes que instalé ya que no se o no se puede bajar otro con dselect quu el 2.4.18 y no el 2.4.18-bf2.4 que tiene el disco de instalacion. Me encanta linux, no tuve que windozear reinstalando todo de nuevo. 2) Sigo sin saber como instalar Ximian. Hay errores de dependencias al menos no se como solucionarlo. He instalado el gnome que trae la woody y esto va bien. Instalacion Woody
Hola! Bueno, la instalación de woody me esta creando muchos problema, Ahora he conseguido no ser capaz de arrancar ni siquiera con el LinuxOlD A ver si podeís facilitarme alguna pista ya que ahora se han acumulado los problemas: 1) Instalé woody + reiserfs + 2.4.18-bf24 desde el CD. Como tengo una Nvidia me obliga a compilar el Kernel con lo cual he de instalar las fuentes para 2.4.18 y compilar el Kernel de Nvidia con lo que el modulo no se carga al detectar diferencias de Kernel (2.4.18 frente a 2.4.18-bf24). Pues bien, compilo para crear un 2.4.18 hago un make_install ( para ir mas rápido que a mano) y cuando voy a arrancar no lo consigo, pero ni siquiera con el LinuxOLD. El problema es que siempre se para en Uncompressing Kernel... He intentado con un disco de arranque y renombro vmlinuz.old a vmlinuz para que el arranqe sea mediante el LinuxOLD ( ahora vmlinuz)y sigo en las mismas. Quiiza sea un problema de los enlaces simbólico, tengo que probar a recrearlo ¿Alguna posible solución antes que reinstale todo de nuevo?. ¿ Cual es la mejor forma de instalar el nuevo kernel automaticamente por que la verdad con los System.map y map me hago un lío ( agradecería alguna referencia a documentacion sobre ello un poco mas clara que el manual de lilo.) 2) El otro problema es el ximian, que no he podido cargarlo por problemas de dependecias, el problema es que he quitado la linea correspondiente del sources.list para tirar del gnome normal de la woody y el problema persiste con gnome-core gnome-media y gnome-panel. Y lo que no entiendo es por que en la migración previa de una potato el ximian funcionaba (hasta que intente cambiar a reiserfs por lo cual tuve que instalar woody desde CD y empezaron mis problemas :-(). ¿Como instalo el gnome ( o mejor el ximian) o como limpio las dependencias con el dselect? ¿ La receta 86 de la espiral sigue siendo válida una vez que woody esta frozen? Si es así puede que esta sea la solución. Ximian en woody
Hola! Tras mi intento de actualizar de potato a woody, que fue perfectamente, salvo tener que ejecutar el install de los paquetes varias veces; intente cambiar el filesystem a reiserfs mediante el el CD RIP que alguien me sugirió en la lista. Lstima que fallase en la única particioó que no debía la root. Por tanto me he visto obligado a instalar woody desde el CD1. Mi problema es que cuando intento instalar task-ximian me pide algunas librerias como la libgtk1 libgwrapguile0 y al instalar me da error por que no puede sobreescribir algunos ficheros, como si estuviesen instalados. Si los renombro siquen dando el mismo problema. Cuando actualicé de potato a woody no tuve ningún roblema salvo que tuve que reinstalar las X por que la actualización las eliminó. ¿Alguien puede indicarme como instalo el Ximian?. Actualización Potato a Woody
Hola! He actualizadado de Potato a Woody siguiendo en principio los siguientes pasos previo cambio del sources.list 0) apt-get install dpkg apt debconf 1) apt-get --get-selections select 2) apt-get update 3) apt-get dist-upgrade 4) apt-get --set-selections select Había leído que en la actualización se tardaba poco, en primer lugar perdí las X y aún estoy intentando con dselect que me deje de pedir reinsatalar paquetes e incluso estoy intentando que aparezca por alguna parte startx. La pregunta es: ¿ he realizado los pasos correctos o el set-selections le ha dado por bajarse media internet? ¿Hay algún documento aparte del oficial que indique algo más sobre el upgrade?, por que todos los que he visto coincidían en estas líneas generales. Actualizacion potato a woody desde ext2 a reiserfs
Hola! Tengo un nuevo disco de 60 GB seagate Barracuda ATA y quiero hacer varias cosas: 1) Instalar los 2 discos en el PC 2) Actualizar a woody 3) Actualizar de 2.2.19 a 2.4.x 4) Instalar Reiserfs en el disco nuevo 4) Cambiar el fs del disco antiguo que tiene la potato a Reiserfs He reunido algo de documentación para intentar hacer todo pasito a pasito pero me gustaría saber si alguien sabe como hacerlo o sabe de alguna referencia. No sé si lo mejor es actualizar el disco actual a woody + kernel 2.4 y luego instalar el segundo formateandolo a Reiserfs. Lo que no se es como convertir luego el actual de ext2 a reiserfs sin perder lo que tengo. Quizá mi problema sea copiar de una partición ext2 a otra REsierfs sin perder informacio como los permisos etc. O quizá sea mejor hacer una instalacion desde el principio en el nuevo y luego copiar los archivos de alguna forma. I don't know about jigdo-easy (I assume though, it's the Windows
version since your header says you posted your message from Outlook)
but I was successful with jigdo-lite under Linux.
That was a permanent connection yet not very fast, plus I had to
pause the download for, say, two weeks and then continue. If I
remember correctly, I got a similar error: some files failed to
download because the image got updated and they were simply
excluded. The solution was to get the new index file and pretend to
be downloading everything from scratch -- then at the beginning
you're prompted to give the path of a possible older version of the
same image to reuse common files. That's what I did, some files were
missing and got downloaded at once -- I think it was ten, maybe
twenty new packages. Really just a few megabytes. Everything else
was there already.

Hi! I have a problem when trying to download a woody iso image with jigdo-easy. It always says oops! some file missed. First I followed the readme intructions but i had always the same message. I don`t kow how to do an rsync either because i don`t know what file are missed. So How can i resolve this problem? jigdo-easy / woody
Hola! Estoy intentando bajarme woody mediante jigdo usando jigdo-easy. Siempre me indica que faltan ficheros y aunque cambie de mirror el problema sigue persistiendo. He intentado utilizar el rsync como indica el README de jigod-easy pero no se utilizarlo y en estos momentos no tengo tiempo de leerme el manual. ¿Hay alguna manera de bajar las imágenes sin que te den problemas o hay alguna forma de comprobar que los ficheros que hay en el mirror coinciden con los que tiene el fichero usado por jigdo para bajarse la imagen? ADS + Zyxel router
Hola! Tengo un router Zyxel para la conexión ADSL (PPPOA). El gestiona la conexión con el ISP internamente por lo que es quien tiene la dirección IP que el ISP le asigna dinámicamente. Mi problema es que quiero que esta IP la recoja mi Linux para que me la envíe por e-mail. Había visto algo de PPTP en los modem ALCATEL pero no parece que esto funcione para que el linux capture la ip mediante un proceso pppoe/ pppoa. Antes tenía un modem dual link y utilizando rp-pppoe conseguía la IP. ¿ Alguna idea de como obtener la ip del router y enviármela por correo ? Muchas Gracias Un saludo

Hace mucho tiempo que no instalo una debian (instalar una vez disfrutar siempre ;-) ), pero creo recordar que por defecto no te instala ni X ni nada, sólamente los paquetes requeridos y los importantes. No sé cuanto espacio en disco será pero calculo que con 100 MB sobra. Instala por defecto y luego borra lo que no necesites, que no seran muchas cosas. Un saludo.

rp-pppoe + 3Com DUAL Link
Hola! Estoy intentando montar un router / firewall con un 3com dual link ADSL modem mediante CoyoteLinux que trae una version de rp-pppoe. ¿ Alguien ha probado algo similar ?. No me funciona ya que aunque reconocen las tarjetas no consigo levantar un interfaz ppp0 suponiendo que sea eso lo que tengo que esperar. ¿Alguién ha probado el rp-pppoe con potato? ¿ podría decirme que muestra procesos le muestra un PS eth1 ( inet) o pppo (inet). ¿ La tabla de rutas la actualiza automáticamente el PPPd o hay que hacerlo manualmente? Me sorprendes ¿ No es un 3Com dual Link?. Yo lo he solicitado y aunque aún no lo tengo se supone que te instalan un dual link y la tarjeta de red si te hace falta. El 3com usb no funciona en linux puesto que se sepa no hay drivers aunque si para el alcatel. Si el modem/router no proporciona conexión ethernet no podrás conectarte con linux. Para la conexión de Eresmas se necesitaría el rp-pppoe http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe/ ya que el protocolo que utiliza Retevision es PPPoA al menos eso me dijeron los del servicio técnico. PS: ¿Sino es indiscreción por que te instalarón un USB?. Lo paso a explicar mejor: Primero la tarjeta de video es 100% COMPATIBLE CON LINUX, lo se porque mis distribuciones anteriores fueron Redhat y Mandrake y funcionaba perfecto en cualquiera de las dos. Esto es lo que tengo: XFree86 verion 3.3.6 y kernel 2.2.19 (todo lo que trae la Potato 2.2r3) La placa ya saben cual es: NVIDIA Riva TNT2 M64 de 32MB de memoria. Segundo paso a explicar como la configuré: - Primero instale todos los paquetes de los CD oficiales, todos los que hacían referencia a: xserver_SVGA, xserver_vga16, xf86setup, xf86config, xdm, gdm. - Segundo entré en XF86Setup y configuré todo correctamente y acepte los cambios (Done) pero aquí (luego de grabar) tuve unos inconvenientes (estos son los problemas que no puedo solucionar): 1- luego de hacer startx me da estos errores: # startx X: cannot stat /etc/X11/X (No existe el fichero o el directorio), aborting (despues de esto, al cabo de unos segundos) _X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can´t connect: errno = 111 giving up. xinit: Coneccion rehusada (errno 111): unable to connect to X server xinit: No existe tal proceso (errno 3): Server error. 2- Y cuando salgo de XF86Setup se pierde los cambios. Bueno luego de todo esto intente configurarlo con xf86config, luego de terminar, tuve los mismos errores antes mencionado. Desde ya agradezco por su amabilidad y por sus futuras respuesta. Hola! Voy a contratar con eresmas una linea adsl y ofrecen un modem 3com dual link ethernet /usb. Me gustaría saber si alguien lo tiene instalado con linux y si da algun problema con el estandar pppoe. Gracias Un saludo

Debian menu en Ximian
Hola a Todos! He instalado Ximian en una 2.2r2. Al hacerlo el menú de aplicaciones que tenía de debian no aparece en la barra de menús de forma que aplicaciones como Lyx, gpgp y otras que tengo instaladas no aparecen .Para ejecutarlas tengo que hacerlo desde la línea de comandos. ¿Como se puede volver a reestablecer el menu De aplicaciones debian? ¿ Tengo que hacerlo Una a Una?. Si como habeís mencionado se soluciona en las propiedades del panel o desde el control center. El problema es que la configuración que te hace Ximian te lo elimina y debes activar manualmente si quieres los menues KDE y Gnome. Gracias Un saludo
