Emacs and suidunregister

1999-05-15 Thread sgore
I'm getting this from cron:

 /etc/cron.daily/suidmanager:
 File /usr/lib/emacs/20.3/i386-debian-linux-gnu/movemail registered but not
 installed
 File /usr/lib/emacs/19.34/i386-debian-linux/movemail registered but not
 installed

I read the man page for suidregister, and it seems to me that when I purged
Emacs19 and Emacs20 (and all related binaries), not everything was cleaned-up.
It also seems to me that this might be a bug.

Can anyone confirm, or suggest what I did wrong?
(I don't think it will be any problem to correct.)

Help w/dpkg (no /etc/init.d file)

1999-05-13 Thread sgore
While configuring my /etc/ppp/ip-up.d scripts, I (stupidly) removed the
/etc/init.d entries for a couple of packages (instead of just
update-rc.d [-n] [-f] name remove). Now, dpkg can't remove, install,
configure, purge, or even force any operation on those packages.

Is there any way to fix this?
