php?

1998-06-08 Thread tsnake
I just noticed php 3 is out. I've had a little use of php2 in the past,
but maybe whenever I get my deb box going, I'll get php going too, but I
must ask: the download for it's linux binary says:
Linux 2.1.x (Redhat 5.x) Apache 1.3.0 + PHP 3.0 binary

Excuse me? Does that mean it's only for Redhat?
Anyone else use php? On linux?
I've used it on AIX, I think... hmmm...
peace,
Chris

Sound card install...?

1998-02-14 Thread tsnake
I ran out of IDE controllers on my machine so I decided tosteal the SB
from my fiance's computer to hopefully be able to use the IDE comtroller
on it so I can actually use my CDROM drive. Anyway, I can't seem to get
the computer to noticethe C Drive is there, and I'm not even sure if it
knows the sound card is there... since I don't have a pnp OS installed, I
don't know what I actually need to do to get the system to notice the
additions... any help? I'm not sure if this is a linux/debian issue, but
it will be when I get it working ;)
Thanks,
Chris

Viewing bootup message

1998-02-10 Thread tsnake
How can you view the entire list of messeges that show when you boot into
linux? It all either scrolls by too fast or too much read/decipher as it
rolls off the top. Is there a file that mirrors that output or someway I
can re-direct it to a file for perusal?
Thanks,
Chris

super help needed...

1998-02-06 Thread tsnake
I just used this command:
(cd /usr ; tar cvf - . )
but didn't realize it would take up more space than I have on my disk.
Well, whien it started to complain, I halted it. But now I have another
problem... all my space is still gone... where did this put the tar'd
stuff?
df gives me 0% free... not good. I can't even man tar to see if it will
give me any hints.
Thanks in advance for help... I'm standing by.
peace,
Chris
