How do I make it adjust to the different resolution?
I'm sure this is very elementary but I can't find it anywhere in the
docs.

# dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 to change refresh rates.

Changing resolution/virtual in XF86Config-4

2004-05-18 Thread Anthony Campbell
If I change the resolution in XF86Config-4, e.g. from 1600x1200 to
1280x1024, the resulting display is too large and parts are off-screen.
How do I make it adjust to the different resolution?

I'm sure this is very elementary but I can't find it anywhere in the

Assuming this is a permenant change, see the option for ViewPort in man
xf86config-4 else you might find the gvidm package handy.

Thanks for the interesting pointer to gvidm.

After some more research on Google I found that adding

Virtual 1280 1024

makes things come out right.
