DOSEMU problems

1999-08-17 Thread Steve Stancliff
Hi all,

I am using DOSEMU v 0.98.7.0 with kernel 2.0.36
and DOS 6.20

PS/2 mouse which is /dev/psaux and /dev/mouse.
dosemu.conf uses /dev/mouse, type ps2.

I have mouse support compiled into the kernel.

When gpm is off, the mouse is functional under
DOSEMU (in 'edit', for instance), except that there
is no mouse cursor. I can move the mouse around
by guessing where it is.

If I enable gpm, then I get a cursor, but the mouse
has only gpm functionality, i.e. the DOS program
doesn't see the mouse, so I can't use it to click
on menus.

The only other thing I've thought of is recompiling
without mouse support, but that doesn't seem
reasonable.

Any ideas on how to get normal DOS mouse
functionality _and_ a cursor?

Another less important problem:

The DOS extended charset characters are wrong in
DOSEMU. Again in 'edit' for example, the borders are
made out of '|' instead of the extended characters.
I can live with it, but just wondering if it is normal.

Thanks,
Steve Stancliff

Two dosemu problems--second try

1999-03-27 Thread Curt Daugaard
Can anyone shed any light on these?

(1) I can't start dosemu in an X-window or use the modem except as root,
even though I have all c_all permissions set for myself in the user
config file. (Before I upgraded from v.66 to v.98.1 I was able to run
under X, but I didn't try the modem.)

(2) When I open a session in a dialup/3270 emulator package I use (Passport
for dos), the cursor becomes invisible. (The cursor is visible when I
first start the application, but vanishes when I open the terminal
session.) None of the video settings for dosemu under X looks like a
likely fix, though I have tried changing them.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Two dosemu problems--second try--ONE SOLVED

1999-03-27 Thread Curt Daugaard
So I'll respond to part of my own post. In searching usenet, I
happend upon a solution (probably not the right one) to problem #1
(running under X and using the modem). Running xhost +host machine
name got dosemu running in an X-window. (Huh, didn't used to have to do
that.) Also, apparently in dosemu for an ordinary user to dial out the
ttyS* device has to have group write permissions.

I still have in invisible cursor, however.

Dosemu problems

1998-10-12 Thread lanceh
I have read the HOWTO and followed the instructions. IN my /etc/dosemu.conf I
have a line

disk {partition /dev/hda3}

and added a line

lredir d: /linux/fs\dos in autoexec.bat both on my dos partition and in

/usr/lib/dosemu/commands.

When I go into dosemu and type d: I get a directory of approximately he right
size but there
is a directory listed with unidentifiable characters. What do I need to do to
correct this
and get dosemu working properly?

Thanks

Lance

Dosemu-problems

1998-02-26 Thread Gernot Bauer
Hi,

I installed the dosemu-package (stable-distribution) but the config-file
is missing (should be /etc/dosemu/conf) and I cant find a readme how to
create one...

Anyone?

I've inspected the dosemu_0.66.3-1.deb package

it contains :
-rw-r--r-- root/root 28011 May 5 13:36 1997 usr/lib/dosemu/config.dist

that should be what you're looking at

I guess the .deb package should put it directly in /etc/dosemu/dosemu.conf
and replace the previous one (if it exists) by a dosemu.conf.orig or sthg
like that...

Here is the layout of my dosemu files after installation.

I eventually copied /usr/lib/dosemu/config.dist to /etc/dosemu.conf and
made the /etc/conf symbolic link point to that instead.

/etc/dosemu

conf# Symlink to /usr/lib/dosemu/config.dist
users

/usr/lib/dosemu
===
config.dist
hddummy
hdimage.dist.gz

/var/lib/dosemu

hdimage # This is the initial FreeDOS image used
# when dos is first executed.
# I replaced this with the image in
# /usr/lib/dosemu/hdimage.dist.gz
# and installed dos 6.22 in the new image.

Re: Dosemu-problems

1998-02-26 Thread Gernot Bauer
 Verify that /usr/lib/dosemu/config.dist exists

 go to /etc as root
 do a
 $ rm -f conf
 $ ln -s /usr/lib/dosemu/config.dist conf

and that should do the job !

Dear Jean-Michel,

thanx a lot, that was the solution.
