Oi, Nao vale a pena ter servidores de fontes rondando se so vc usa o X da maquina! o XFree-4 tem modulos para suportar fontes truetype, basta apenas inserir o modulo no arquivo de configuracao - Load Freetype (quer dizer... apenas nao... tem mais umas frescuras que eu nao lembro...). Comigo foi bem simples no Woody, bastei habilitar o módulo do XFree4 responsável pelo suporte a fontes truetype, peguei e copiei as fonts truetype de uma máquina Windows e coloquei no diretório /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype, logo instalei o pacote fttools, e executei o mkttfdir /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype para criar o índice de fonts no respectivo diretório, logo na reinicialização no servidor X, meus aplicativos já conseguiam visualizar e usar as fonts truetype. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Só pra ser chato, me passou uma coisa pela cabeça agora, estes arquivos de fontes não tem problemas de copyrigth tipo voce que instalou o Windows numa partição pode copiar estes fontes a vontade por ai pra qualquer lugar sem restrição ? sim... e não :-) Existem milhares de ttfs livres na rede. Como eu mencionei num outro e-mail, ate mesmo a MS disponibiliza algumas fontes (gratuitas... nao exatamente free). Mas também que você venha falar mais alguma coisa, já identifiquei o porquê eu não via esse pacote anteriormente. Eu não tenho a lista de pacotes contrib no meu cache, porque preferi não usar nenhum pacote do respositório contrib. Olá pessoal, Parece que esse texto gerou um pouco de mal entendido, como o Kov me pedindo desculpa, ou um certo desconhecido que me mandou um email tentando me ofender. Só pra acabar com o assunto, queria deixar claro que aprecio o trabalho que Kov (Gustavo) tem feito pela comunidade desde que conheço, inclusive já fiz uma entrevista com ele para uma comunidade que participo, e que não houve problema algun, fora a de eu não ter recebido uma resposta por parte do kov, como eu tinha feito, mas que foi esclarecido por ele mesmo que só estava tentando ajudar :) Infelizmente as palavras às vezes deixam o sentido de uma frase um tanto destorcido, talvez pela falta de expressões físicas que acontecem em uma comunicação verbal, e acaba gerando um pouco de confusão. font servers: xfs vs. xfstt
Hi, If I use lots of tt fonts, should I use xfstt instead? Do I even need xfs* at all? The reason I ask is that I just brought over tt fonts from my licensed copy of windows. Then I ran mkttfontdir (well, apt-get ran it for me, when I installed it), and added the directory /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType to the catalogue list in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fs/config and restarted xfs. Next, when I ran syplheed 0.7.0 from a terminal window, it died after spitting out a multitude of GDK-related font errors. (Unfortunately, I did not write them down.) [potato] Font servers broken?
I have some problems with font servers in potato: X sometimes refuses to start because it can't find the fixed font. Commenting the lines that set xfs and xfstt as font servers in XF86Config cures the problem, but I really would like to know what happens to the servers.
