There is a bugreport, I filed to it.

Taking into account that both devices now exhibit similar behavior, I'd start
by looking
into USB power saving functions [1] and try to disable them to see if it
solves the
problem. That could be done by setting "autosuspend" parameter of kernel module
"usbcore" to a negative integer value (-1).You can change it temporarily on

It's been happening to me lately, especially in browsers. I think it's

I don't know about a known solutions, but a workaround might be
ctl-alt-f1, followed by ctl-alt-f7. I think this will force X to
re-initialize some things.

I noticed this issue either, but only on my PC. The issue was related that
the frequency of my wireless mouse from Logitech interferred with the SATA
cables.

A small adapter, which extends the distance between mouse receiver and USB
port by 5 cm, solved the issue for me. This adapter was enclosed in the
package of my Logitech mouse.

BUT as you experienced this issue either on the Raspi, which doesn't have
a SATA connection, it's very likely, that this is not the right solution
for you.

Obvious thougts:
- tried to connect your mouse via external USB hub at the PC?
- used different USB ports?
- replaced the batteries of your mouse with fresh ones?

Best regards,
Klaus.

Have you even tried another mouse?

Exactly right!
This is what it looks like to me also.

I've seen several mice fail in exactly this way, with a mechanical
problem. Not saying that this must be your case, but ruling that
out might save you a bit of troubleshooting.

The problem is extremely intermittent. I use the mouse many times a day
with no problem. Then unexpectedly the click does not work.

I recall having a rash of similar scale while using the wireless mouse
and keyboard pair with a single dongle, but that mouse eventually
developed a flaky left button from a broken solder joint because the
switch was not fully seated against the mouses pcb when it was soldered.

Mice are now being made so opening them up for solder joint repairs is
going to damage it anyway, so I quit repairing them 3 or 4 years ago.
Replacing the mouse with a $14 m317 logitek, which has its own receiver
dongle, seems to have been a permanent cure.

This happens infrequently, once in a day or two. I am using two pc's, a

I have tried to recover with various keyboard entries - ctl-c, cti-d,
