Thanks in advance. Did you made an update before? If yes, an easy solution is to go back to the old version of the software which is giving you problems. If it does not solve the problem, it is probably because you have a configuration file which mess your system in $HOME. Try with another user to check it, if the behavior disappear, then it is certain. When you know if it is a user-specific problem, you will need to find which configuration file is the problem. I guess you could try to start by removing Konsole's configuration files first (or just move them, in case it does not solve the problem, so that you could restore them then) I also noticed that you speak about using Konsole on XFCE. problem down to xfe. One of the xfe dependencies is libfox which seems
to be causing the problem.
I normally use Konsole, but the problem is there with any of the
consoles that I've checked.
Also, I get a .bash error when the when I close the X File Viewer. I've
looked at .bashrc and don't see anything that seems unusual. I've
attached the file and would appreciate more sets of eyes.
I solved the problem by removing xfe from the system, but that's a
rather draconian. I would like to continue to use xfe, but need a
solution to the problem.

Dear People, I'm running sarge. I recently noticed (I don't reboot my machine very often and only discover breakage when I reboot) that the red threading in slrn was now replaced by red blocks. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it seems likely the problem was with Konsole and/or X 4.3, since X 4.3 had just arrived in testing. Or maybe that was just a coincidence. The problem seems to be visible in most fonts, and is certainly present in my usual font, which is the unicode option. So, can anyone using slrn reproduce this problem, and more importantly, suggest a fix? I'd be inclined to report this as a Konsole bug unless I hear something to the contrary. Thanks in advance. Font Problem bei konsole + mc/aptitude auf sarge
Hi Leute, ich vor kurzem auf Debian Sarge umgestiegen, nach dem ich jahrelang SuSE hatte. Ich hab mit einer Minimalinstallation gestartet und mir dann nach und nach allerhand nachinstalliert. Hat soweit eigentlich auch geklappt, nur jetzt hab ich 'nen Hänger... Rufe ich ncurses Programme wie z.B. aptitude oder mc in der KDE konsole auf, bekomme ich einen verhunzten Schirm (z.B. anstelle des senkrechten Strichs | bekomme ich nur Quadrate). Der Windowmanager ist WindowMaker. In einem xterm sieht alles so aus wie es soll. Dann hab ich fröhlich Pakete installiert, und eines schönen Tages ging mc in der KDE konsole auf einmal, alle Zeichen waren da. Wiederum 1-2 Wochen später (womöglich als fontconfig aus Abhängigkeitsgründen dazukam) ging es auf einmal nicht mehr, und das ist auch der jetztige Zustand. Meine Fragen: 1.) Wo gibt eine Doku / FAQ / HowTo zu den Font-Geschichten unter X11 + Debian? Ich hab schon eine Weile gegooglet, die debian-user-german-FAQ gelesen, aber das Thema scheint ja sehr komplex zu sein: Bitmap-Fonts (skalierbar, nicht skalierbar), TrueType, etc. Als Ex-NeXTStep User geht mir das noch nicht so ein (da gabs nur skalierbare Postscriptfonts und gut war...) 2.) Wie bekommen ich wieder die ansehnliche ncurses Darstellung hin, die ich schon mal hatte. Jegliche Tips sind willkommen! problem z konsole, kdm i polskimi literkami
Mam problem z konsole. Debian SID (świeży). Jeżeli uruchamiam KDE z kdm, to w konsole nie mam polskich literek. Niezależnie od tego jaką kombinację układ klawiatury/czcionka wybiorę pojawiają mi się znaki zapytania zamiast polskich literek, natomiast w innych aplikacjach jest ok. Jeżeli odpalam bezpośrednio z konsoli (startx), to w konsole mam polskie literki. Szukałem bug-a związanego z konsole który mógłby to powodować, ale nic nie znalazłem. Wygląda na to, że cierpi zarówno wyświetlanie znaków (gdy otwieram emacsem plik napisany w iso pojawiają mi się krzaczki), jak i układ klawiatury (plik napisany w emacsie i w mcedicie pod konsole gdy kde jest uruchomione z kdm nie zawiera polskich liter tylko znaki zapytania). Poprzednio nie używałem kdm, więc nie wiem czy problem istnieje od niedawna, czy też jest to wina któregoś z ostatnich update-ów. Może to też być wina mojej stacji, bo ten komputer ma sida uaktualnianego codziennie od ponad roku. Pytanie: czy ktoś ma podobny problem i czy zna sposób jego rozwiązania.
