Hi,
have a look at: http://alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Main
There is one other page specialised in usb interfaces, but I don't know
the link off hand.

You can always try to figure out whether the interface requires drivers
on windows or OSX, if not then chances are good it will just work in
Linux too.

Stay away from USB 2 interfaces, those will most likely not work.

Regards,
Philipp

These things move too quickly. I have a SoundBlaster SB0270, but that
is a few years old and is now discontinued. I might possibly have been
using Etch then, but it certainly worked fine on Lenny and transferred
to Squeeze without a problem.

It is well to ask: I had tried a really cheap C-Media-based device,
which was fine for sound, but the USB dropped every now and then. Not
what you want with sound...

No personal experience but New Egg's customers say it works with linux:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=12-186-035&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Keywords=linux&Page=4#scrollFullInfo

And manufacturer also advertises that supports linux, so it
"sounds" (he!) good.

Greetings,
