The apt-get database and the dpkg database are one and the same. Actually, apt-get is just a front end to dpkg. Matthew

I have a doubt about this: Do you absolutely have to use apt-get to isntall it? You could just use dpkg -i packagename.deb while you're in the the directory the package is in. Hi. I want to apt-get a .deb file I downloaded from SourceForge (gpltrans) It is not available from the debian archive or any mirrors. What line would I add to sources.list so I apt-get it from my home directory?
