I see no reason to expect that it would be temporary. The change apparently happened in version 5.8.3-1~exp1. /usr/share/doc/linux-image--5.10.0-7-amd64/changelog.gz contains the following entry under that version: * Move System.map into debug package and replace with pointer. > If the former, then what's the reasoning behind that change? Well, what is System.map used for? My understanding is that it's primarily useful when trying to debug the kernel. As such, it only really makes sense to have it present (and taking up space) when that's what you're trying to do - at which point you'll also presumably want to have the other files that are present in the debugging-symbols package for the Linux kernel version in question. If that doesn't address your question, can you please clarify what you're wanting to know and why? E.g., knowing what your expectations are here might be helpful. -- The Wanderer The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. System.map incorrecte ?
{journal_ack_err} {journal_ack_err_R__ver_journal_ack_err} Warning: /System.map does not match kernel data. /dev/hda7 on /usr type xfs (ro) /dev/hda8 on /home type xfs (rw,usrquota, grpquota) /dev/hda9 on /opt type xfs (rw) hum...c'est grave docteur ? -- pii233

Get your free email from www.linuxmail.org Powered by Outblaze -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Warning: /usr/src/linux/System.map does not match kernel data.

System.map and unresolved symbol

{tcp_v4_syn_recv_sock} {tcp_v4_syn_recv_sock_R__ver_tcp_v4_syn_recv_sock} Warning: /System.map does not match kernel data.
Buenas... Eu tô usando ReiserFS (a versão do testing). I *did* compile (and recompile ) my kernel a dozen times..is it because of that ? yes. copy the file /usr/src/linux/System.map to /boot/System.map-`uname -r` and you are set.
