Cualquier metodo que uses para xdmcp, que en definitiva es el nudo de la cuestion, depende de una red /veloz/. Usando un hub, te garantizas que eso nunca suceda. Otro punto a tener en cuenta es revisar las velocidades de las tarjetas de red del P3, y de los clientes. Lo dicho, creo que estoy muy espeso. hi, früher konnte ich mit X -query localhost :1 eine 2. X-Session starten. Jetzt (KDE 3.3) nimmer. An sich habe ich in /etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc den Zugriff von außen freigegeben (Enable=true). Woran kann es liegen, dass ich nur einen Mauszeuger auf grauem Grund sehe? Danke Rudi
KDE 3.2.3: X -query schlägt fehl nach Upgrade
Hallo, ich habe soeben per apt-get bzw. synaptic von KDE 3.2.2 auf KDE 3.2.3 upgegradet - und diesmal vorsichtshalber schon einmal meine Kmailrc gesichert. Vor einem Neustart von X wollte ich die neue Version schon einmal auf einem zweiten Display betrachten: X -query localhost :1 gibt mir aber die folgenden Meldungen aus, ohne über eine graue Fläche mit X-Mauszeiger hinaus zu kommen (s.u.). Was könnte das Problem sein? Was muss ich tun, fall sich X nun gar nicht mehr starten lässt? X -query hostname
I use xdm, and I want other systems to be able to use X -query hostname to act as terminals connected to my system. When they try, they get a blank X screen and no login prompt. I don't know whether they're successfully connecting and not getting the prompt, or not connecting at all. On my system, I made only these two changes; /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess I put the name of each terminal on a line by itself /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config I commented out this line: DisplayManager.requestPort: 0 What else do I have to do? Is there a HOWTO that I missed that covers this exactly? Once I get this working, I want to change at least one of the terminals so that it permanently acts like a terminal, i.e. so that the user doesn't have to use X -query, the login prompt appears immediately after booting. I expect to have to change /etc/inittab (maybe just change the default runlevel and then go into rc#.d), but I have no idea where to go from there. Any hints to get me started? switching from/to X -query display
i have an sun-server accessable to run remote X sessions (dtlogin fetched with X -query ...). logging onto the sun works fine, switching back to local (linux) X with ctrl-alt-f7 is fine, too. but switching to sun's display back again i run in trouble. all i can see is a black screen with a tty-style output like Erase is delte \n Kill is control-U and such. i see no way to recover to real display. i had this remote display running some weeks ago without this problem. meantime i updatet my woody sytem. any hints? gerhard
