If I start all 23 of my xterms in one go, things get in a mess.
They're meant to be distributed across 20 pages of an fvwm desktop.
So I start them (and the other apps) with
xtoolwait -timeout 15 xterm ...

Because xtoolwait waits for each window to be mapped on its
appropriate page, the numbering is predictable. It does start,
however, at 0, not 1.

But you have to go back to squeeze to find the xtoolwait package.
It's a mere 12626 bytes. I don't know why it was dropped.

Cheers,
David.

determine /dev/pts/1 in .xsession

2016-06-24 Thread Mike McClain
I open several aps in .xsession, a couple of xterms, clock, iceweasel.
The first in .xsession is an xterm I use for command line stuff.
This xterm is seldom at any one pts but rather moves around. Is there
a way to tell X to always open that xterm on /dev/pts/1?
Thanks,
Mike

With a 300::1 kill ratio who are the terrorists?
