Thanks a lot, bye florian attenberger I assume you have just one IP. Then you can use IP-Masquerade. There is a mini-howto describing how it works and how to set it up. IIRC to get the basics work you only have to load some modules modprobe ip_masq_ftp modprobe ip_masq_raudio modprobe ip_masq_irc modprobe ip_masq_cuseeme modprobe ip_masq_vdoline and adjust it like this: ipfwadm -F -p deny ipfwadm -F -a m -S 192.168.1.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0 ^^ 192.168.1.0 is the adress of the localnet. So you might have to replace it with yours. 24 means class c network. See the howto for the values of the other network classes if needed. routed in netstd and gated compilation problems.
Hi. I've been trialing the routed included in netstd and it seems _very_ broken to the point of not establishing routes in the table when one needs to be added. I believe that from reports about 'routed' on the Internet that people don't use it because of this and 'gated' is a very powerful and versitile replacement. Perhaps either gated can be provided as part of netstd - though a seperate package would be a better way to go. Now, even more interesting problem - I'm having trouble compiling gated would you believe :-) Please keep in mind that I'm no programmer, but these are the errors I get, and again, wouldn't you know it - right near the end of the compilaton: parse.o: In function `parse_where': parse.o(.text+0x56b): undefined reference to `yylineno' parse.o(.text+0x591): undefined reference to `yylineno' lexer.o: In function `yylex': lexer.o(.text+0x327): undefined reference to `yylineno' lexer.o(.text+0x5a8): undefined reference to `yylineno' lexer.o(.text+0x6b8): undefined reference to `yylineno' lexer.o(.text+0x86d): more undefined references to `yylineno' follow make[1]: *** [gated] Error 1 If someone can help me on this gated compilation issue it'd proboly be best to keep it off the list. Re: gated file
I have now compiled gated (tried on another machine and it went no problems, thought they were the same configstrange), and got it running---good. I have installed it on our internet exchange and it listens to BGP nicely, including supernets---very good (no other OS's can do that, that we have). However: it does not seem to understand variable length subnet masks, as given to it by the BGP server? Instead it sets the BGP server as it's next hop for those nets. I would MOST like to solve this. Is it a problem with gated (I used options VARIABLE_MASKS), or is it a kernel feature I need to explicitly turn on? The way most of our other hosts cope with this problem is that they receive a redirect from the BGP server so that they get the correct route next time. However my linux machine doesn't seem to learn these redirect routes and continues to go the long way for these nets every single time! This is not fatal, just rather inefficient! This would not be an issue if the first problem was solved but, if it can't be, this would be a second best option ;-) Does anyone have solutions to these?
