basic gnome question
Does gnome itself have any prerequisite packages? In one tutorial I read about x-window-system-core being one of them and am curious to know if this still holds true for lenny. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Gnome certainly requires the X libs. It also requires Gtk+ and assorted libs. Not to mention a bunch of libraries of its own. -- The so-called lessons of history are for the most part the rationalizations of the victors. You can just check packages.debian.org to see the dependencies. http://packages.debian.org/lenny/gnome Note that some of the packages gnome depends on, depend on other packages, and so on. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
Comment l'installer ? Merci beaucoup.
gnome question
Hoe do I make it so gnome does not blank out my screen after 3 minutes? It is getting really annoying when i am reading something. I've looked online, but been unable to find anything.

Are you sure it's gnome that's blanking your screen? If adjusting the Gnome Controls don't do it, you can try: xset -dpms xset s off I'm not sure, but man xset should see you thru. -- Humanity's future is in the stars: support a manned mission to Mars! http://www.thinkmars.net/petition/addpetition.html

simple GNOME question
Hey, I have a simple (i think) question about GNOME. I was wondering how I make it so that when I minimize an app, it shrinks into the GNOME panel. I'm running Sawfish w/ GNOME 1.2 under Woody. You should only do this on 1 panel..though you may have several panels. - We specialize in multi-processor computing systems! John Foster AdVance-Computing Systems
One more little GNOME question ...
Where can I find the latest copy of the user's guide in a Debian package? I installed from http://www.debian.org/~jim/debian-gtk-gnome/gnome-stage-slink, but I am still missing the user's guide. - thanks, Bill
