hplaserjet6L/pcmcia questions

I'm having trouble with my HP Laserjet 6L printer.  APSfilter nor magifilter
have drivers for my printer.  Is there any alternative?

Furthermore, on my laptop, the card manager will not work after I upgrade to 
kernel 2.2.0(most recent pre).  I upgraded the card manager 
(pcmcia-cs_3.0.7-1.deb) in the potato release.  This does not seem to help.  Is 
there some answer?  I would greatly appreciate some guidance.
