Just for the record, there are a lot of newer modems out there that are external, but still not real modems, but Winmodems. Serial modems are always real modems, but USB modems are often (usually?) Winmodems. So anything that plugs into a serial port will be a real, hardware modem, but you'll need to be careful with USB modems. Re: Hylafax faxgetty faxrcvd arguments
Hi, Do you have any response about your problem ? thanks ... Your post : Hi @ll, i have trouble with my hylafax configuration. I use a Debian Etch System with the standard hylafax package from debian. The faxserver is only used for incoming faxes. Each incoming fax is delivered to one mail address at the local system. Now, i try to filter incoming fax by sender but the filter does not work. All incoming faxes will be send to the standard mail address. By viewing my syslog during recieving a fax i see the following output: FaxGetty[2322]: RECV FAX (00026): recvq/fax00026.tif from +49 2441 3453264, route to unspecified FaxGetty[2305]: RECV FAX: bin/faxrcvd recvq/fax00026.tif ttyS0 00026 How can i add the sender variable/ number to faxrcvd so that i can filter incoming faxes through faxdispatch by sender? Can anyone help me? Greetings Stefan

hylafax
Is Hylafax still the only open source fax server available? I found Hylafax+ which appears to be a fork. If anyone here has used both, please share your experiences. Is there anything that makes Hylafax+ the better choice? I'd prefer to stick with the Lenny Hylafax package unless there is a compelling reason not to. -- Power by Debian. Hylafax faxgetty faxrcvd arguments
Hi @ll, i have trouble with my hylafax configuration.
Hi! So weit, so gut.

Installing HylaFAX....
Once again THANK YOU for all your help, I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. Now that I have my Debian box up and running, nice desktop and all, I was under the impression the distro comes "prepackaged" with HylaFAX fax server. The HylaFAX web site is not too clear on how to actually install the software so I was hoping someone here would lend some guidance as to installation procedures. Thanks again for your indulgence. problema modem hylafax
Ahora el hylafax me dice lo siguiente: Probing for best speed to talk to modem: 38400 OK. About fax classes: The difference between fax classes has to do with how HylaFAX interacts with the modem and the fax protocol features that are used when sending or receiving faxes. One class isn't inherently better than another; however, one probably will suit a user's needs better than others. Class 1 relies on HylaFAX to perform the bulk of the fax protocol. Class 2 relies on the modem to perform the bulk of the fax protocol. Class 2.0 is similar to Class 2 but may include more features. Class 1.0 is similar to Class 1 but may add V.34-fax capability. Class 2.1 is similar to Class 2.0 but adds V.34-fax capability. HylaFAX generally will have more features when using Class 1/1.0 than when using most modems' Class 2 or Class 2.0 implementations. Generally any problems encountered in Class 1/1.0 can be resolved by modifications to HylaFAX, but usually any problems encountered in Class 2/2.0/2.1 will require the modem manufacturer to resolve it. If you're unsure and your modem supports it, use Class 1. Hmm, this looks like a Class 1 modem. Product code (ATI0) is TP560 Data/Fax/Voice 56K Modem. Other information (ATI3) is TP560 Data/Fax/Voice 56K Modem. DTE-DCE flow control scheme [default]? Modem manufacturer is Topic. Modem model is TP560. Using prototype configuration file topic... The modem configuration parameters are: Class1PPMWaitCmd: delay\0727 Class1TCFWaitCmd: delay\0727 Class1EOPWaitCmd: delay\0729 Class1SwitchingCmd: delay\0727 Are these ok [yes]?
Handarbeit.
/usr/bin/sendfax -n %server_h %res %time_a %enterprise_x %comment_c %email_f -d %name_{@@@}%number %files Wenn ich das benutze, dann steht in /var/spool/hylafax/log/xferfaxlog 03/24/06 09:43 SEND00120 faxCAPI 10[EMAIL PROTECTED] 02x002xxx 256 0 0:000:00 CAPI not installed or active. Ansonsten kommt ein Fehler:CAPI not installed or active obwohl alles richtig konfiguriert ist.
