I think that is possible, but I don't recall off the top of my head how
to do it.  You might find that the live-magic in Wheezy is more
up-to-date.  I think you can just download the debs for live-magic and
live-build from the Wheezy repo and install it on Squeeze with dpkg.  I 
don't think you'll run into any dependencies that aren't available in 
Squeeze.

By the way, there is also a debian-live mailing list if you need more
detailed info.

I've never used that application but I would launch it from command line 
to see if there are any errors coming out :-?

I am on wheezy, amd-64 with Xfce4 desktop. I installed, with synaptic,
the program live-magic
to make live debian iso's.  The program starts fine, and I walk past
the menus. But the final menu, checking the button
Apply, nothing happens!

Any ideas?

  Je vois plusieurs solutions :
1. c’est peut-être prévu quelque part dans live-magic, voir la 
   doc ;
2. tu te crées un dépôt local avec le contenu de ton DVD, et un 
   proxy-cache pour récupérer ce qui manquerait ;
3. tu mets les paquets du DVD dans le cache de live-magic ;
4. tu décomposes les étapes de live-magic (en utilisant les
   commandes internes (« porcelain » et « plumbing »)) et tu 
   contourne l’étape de téléchargement en utilisant le DVD comme 
   source.
