Postfix newaliases fatal

2004-07-31 Thread Georges Roux

Bonjour,

J'ai un nouveau probleme avec postfix depuis une mise à jour, j'utilise
Sarge.

la commande newaliases me fait :
postalias: fatal: open aliases: No such file or directory

dans mon main.cf j'ai:

alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases

et j'ai bien aliases dans /etc

ll /etc/aliases*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 758 Mar 8 11:45 /etc/aliases
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 12288 Jul 31 17:16 /etc/aliases.db
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 12288 Jan 31 05:05 /etc/aliases.db.db3

De plus la commande postalias marche tres bien dans /etc
sudo postalias aliases

Ou est mon erreur?

Georges

error in newaliases

2001-05-20 Thread Erik van der Meulen
I cannot seem to get sendmail running on my laptop. If I run
sendmailconfig I get some errors. First thing that goes wrong seems to
be newaliases. If I run that manually i get:

Cannot open hash database /etc/mail/aliases.db: Invalid argument
WARNING: cannot open alias database /etc/mail/aliases
Cannot create database for alias file /etc/mail/aliases

Does not seen to have to do with permissions as far as I can see.

Any hints much appreciated!

Let me guess, you´ve upgraded some libraries to unstable for whatever
reason, haven´t you? libc6/libdb2 are broken in a _very_ interesting
way...

I solved the same problem by installing

after _much_ messing ´round and installing some- and each and
everything in various versions...

If you need further assistance, drop me a line.

NEWALIASES PROBLEM.

2001-01-14 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hej!
FÖrsökte updatera min alias fil med newaliases här om dagen.
Dock fick jag ett meddelande om att filen /usr/lib/smail/mkalias inte
hittar /usr/lib/smail/getopt.
Vad gör jag då?
Har den trots detta updaterat filen eller måste jag först installera
något?
Vad i så fall?

potato, sendmail, and newaliases...

1999-03-16 Thread Evan Van Dyke
Well, I've had a fun night. it appears that the new potato packages
do something to break sendmail... apparently in the code which
makes up a new aliases.db. when I run newaliases by itself I get
errors saying that it can't find/open aliases/aliases.db
I would paste in the errors, but I'd have to reinstall sendmail which
would break my mailing again which I can't do. In any case, I'm
not sure if the problem is with glibc2.1, the database routines, or
just sendmail. I was getting similar errors with smail. The only
package which seems to work is zmailer... so it's staying around
for a while. Anyone know what is going on?

It is part of sendmail, if you have smail installed, you don't need it.
It regenerates the /etc/aliases.db file for sendmail, but smail
interperates /etc/aliases directly. Simply ignore any instructions
telling you to run it.

newaliases script?

1996-09-15 Thread Kevin Traas

I've got an application I'm trying to install on my new Debian system and
it is giving me a warning about a missing script (called newaliases).

I'm assuming this script somehow manages mail aliases (based on the type
of app it is and the name), but other than that I don't know anything
about it.

I can't find any information on this script in any FAQs, HOWTOs, or any
of the Packages files (via grep).

Anyone have any ideas about where I can find this script?

TIA,

...but as i just found out, if you install smail, you don't get
`newaliases', but rather `mkaliases' (in /usr/sbin). it's kinda
inconsistent -- the man page for smail lists `newaliases' at the top,
but never mentions it again.

i did just do an `ln -s newaliases mkaliases' and running `newaliases'
worked fine, so that's a workable short-term fix.
