problems during installation

2009-07-17 Thread w0102926
Hi
I attempted to install debian GNU/Linux 5.0 several times
today, but every time the process gets to select and install
software, nothing appears to happen, I have left it for up
to an hour with please wait 1% complete on the screen. The
rest of the process happens instantly which leads to the
conclusion something isn't right. Any help would be greatly
appreciated
jason

Maybe you could try a different version (eg testing)? Are you using a
full CD install, a minimal install or network install?

We need more info. What CD are you using? Are you installing the
software from the network or the CD?

Personally, I always just install the base system (or the standard
system) with no DTE or other stuff, from the CD. Then I boot up the
system, get networking going and add software later.

Doug.

  No, sorry,

no chance. I tried so many things but it did not help.
Maybe you can try this http://www.jimmy.co.at/weblog/?p=71
(Did not work with my Controller...)

I did some research on this and found that it is the result of missing
firmware blob in /lib/firmware/ in the initramfs. There is more info in
fixed ubuntu bug #82382

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/82382

It also mentions a patch to initramfs here:

http://help.lockergnome.com/linux/aic94xx-firmware-initramfs-ftopict394102.html

I will let you know if I can make a d-i image with this installed.

I tried the SCSI-Controller in RAID and in normal mode, makes no changes.

Problems during installation of base system

2004-11-09 Thread Dipl.Ing. Alexander Patuzzi

As already in previous versions also in Debian Woody 3/r03 for alpha
installation on my Dec PW 500a stops with the message, that glibc is
corrupt. How can i ever come to a running system on the computer.
(i even replaced the old CD-ROM drive by a new one, so this should not be
the reason)--
Report of the installation system is included.
Best regards

Problems during installation of LINUX

1999-11-05 Thread Claus Kensy
German part see below.

I want to install LINUX on my PC. For this I created a rescue floppy
disk
(LINUX) under DOS to be able to boot the PC.
After I have booted the PC and I answered some questions the step
appears
to select a harddisk for partitioning.
Now the problem occurs.
I have connected one HD on IDE1, one HD on IDE2 and one on an SCSI
adapter
(Adaptec 1542).
I want to use the SCSI HD for Linux installation, but the window on the
screen
only shows /dev/hda and /dev/hdc to be selected ( the IDE HDs).
What has to be done to use the SCSI HD for partitioning and installing
LINUX?

Kind regards

Claus

auszuwaehlen.
Hier beginnt mein Problem.

Vielen Dank fuer Ratschlaege.

Claus

Problems during installation

1997-11-07 Thread volk
Hello everybody,

I would need some help.
I tried to install Debian 1.3 from 1.44'' floppies (no virus, no bad
sector) and CD.
I booted from the rescue disk (resc1440.bin).
The boot process stopped after writing
'VFS: mounted root (minix filesystem)'
or at the next message:
'mounting /proc
 done'
After that, nothing happened, no fault messages.
What should I do?
Thank you in advance,
   Balazs Volk
