python-base (which was python 1.5) went away. Debian still has python 1.5
hwoever the default is now 2.1. If Koffice is misbehaven it probably needs to
be recompiled and have its depends straightened.

Put the python-base package on hold until Koffice is upgraded.

Fetchmailconf has the same problem.

You could file a bug against those packages.

  Gregor,
Sorry if you know this already, but the current version of python-base

Do you really mean libdb1 which is at 1.85.4-4?

 Hi David,

this was due to a bug in the libc6 package installed during python-base's
build. I have rebuilt the python packages with the current libc6, which
fixed this dependency, and uploaded this as python 1.5.2-9. I has been
 installed in woody and potato.

I do not know what the trouble is with this, exactly but in the

I simply deleted the -q in the offending lines in
/var/lib/dpkg/info/python-base.postinst and it appears to be working fine
... though probably a bit more verbose than intended.

AFAIK, the maintainer has fixed this in 1.5.1-2. :-) It has something to
do with getopts? :-)
