upgrade on comp without internet connection
hi everybody! i have installed debian version 6.0.2 on computer without internet connection. Also i have full set of DVD with 7.2.0 version. So - i want to upgrade the system. Im going to perform next steps: 1) remove all contents of /etc/apt/sources.list 2) add every DVD by apt-cdrom add command 3) #apt-get update #apt-get dist-upgrade Is this sequence of command correct (at least theoretically)? Is there pit falls? thanks in advance -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? It is now (see addition). Is there pit falls? Maybe - the more up-to-date your Squeeze is before the upgrade the less likely you are to have problems. You can use apt-zip and a removable device to do this. You have backed up *everything* remotely important right? To be more certain you should tell us what you have running on the box - some applications can be problematic You could post the output of dpkg --get-selections | grep -v deinstall to a pastebin thanks in advance Kind regards -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Yes, there are often pitfalls which will be avoided if you follow the release notes. http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/releasenotes -- If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing. --- Malcolm X -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
