Apparently I was too quick on the draw as this line has since been added to the
diag file:

Did someone say something about new keys?

I noticed today that Declude wasn't processing. I checked the diag file and it
has the usual entries at the top plus an entry at the bottom saying that the
Sniffer license is invalid. How is that?

So then I restarted the Declud service and now the diag file only shows
this:

Declude 4.12.02 Diagnostics
Compilation Platform: SmarterMail
Copyright (c) 2000-2013 Declude, Inc.

Host Name mail1.bcwebhost.net
Declude Key redacted

So I have no idea what's going on. Anyone?

[Declude.JunkMail] SSD vs HDD

2011-03-04 Thread Stephan Chayer
Hello Everyone,

I think the question may have been already discussed but I would like to
receive some advices for my spool directory. My hard disk access is
suffering.

Should we use SSD drives or regular HDD. I have heard numerous reliability
problems with SSD and I am not sure if we should do it.

We have 2 Intel X25-M series handy, should we use them or something else?

Dunno what you are using for a controller but if you couple these drives as a
controller cache with an adaptec 5805 for example the system will be wicked
fast almost regardless of the hdd drives used - as long as they are enterprise
class..

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Declude queue alert * complete solution *

2010-08-25 Thread Stephan Chayer
Here’s the solution I implemented years ago with David.

Simply create 2 batch files:

1. One that checks if the review folder is empty (could be usefull)

2. One that checks if the Proc is over 500…!!!

Using these 2 batch files, you can create a Scheduled task that runs every
10-15-20 minutes as you wish.

For the Proc over 500, you should use a different SMTP than yours… We are
using the free Blat tool to send us emails or notifications. Blat.org I
believe. And we also use a zip tool to send the content of the folder along
in the email. You also need to change all the paths according to you.

I installed the 4.4.12 version when it was released and it has fixed the TXT
file orphans left in the WORK directory. But twice since then, the
decludeproc service has stopped functioning, and mail has built up in the
proc directory until I stop and start the service. It just stopped again
now, and I didn't catch the problem for about an hour, until a client
called. I noticed that there have been two more interim releases, but the
readme.txt file is not updated to reflect what has been fixed. Are there
additional crash issues that have been discovered and fixed?

This is known as backscatter you can read about it here.

If you go to the Declude My Account home page you will find a link to
download a zip file which contains 2 filters you can use against
backscatter. Download these and extract them to your \declude\filters folder
and then call the filters from your global.cfg to be aggressive score the

Dan, Todd,

I feel a little like you.

We are using, selling and supporting Declude for the past 4 years. It works
great for us. Especially since they brought up version 4 including
Commtouch and AVG, that was a nice move.

We went through all the product and pricing changes for the past years. We
were surprised when they conbined all the products but they honoured all the
previous purchases from all our customers. We deal with other vendors that
would have been much more agressive that Declude in some situations.

I believe that Decluce's pricing is fair and attractive for customers, the
product works well and the support is just amazing.

Bottom line, if you do not make money, you can't give support and put
ameliorations in a product.

I wish that everyone could continue to do business and make money.

I totally agree with Dan’s email. Declude has been working great for us, so
it’s money well spent. On the other hand, our IMail SA just expired, which
cost us close to $1000 a year and a half ago, and I was never satisfied to
the point where I could upgrade. So that amounted to worthless money spent.
I’m pretty comfortable when David says an update is available that it really
is ready. The support – esp. Linda – has been fantastic.

Our SA with Declude is up in June. I have every intention of renewing.

I, for one, like infrequent but solid updates. I don’t have time to be
constantly installing and testing updates, especially if they are
problematic. Also, Declude is the only affordable anti-virus / anti-spam
e-mail solution that I’ve encountered. I haven’t really been looking lately
but the others that I’ve seen were a lot more expensive.

Everyone has to choose the product that works for them. Declude works for

Subject: RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Reasons to renew

Kevin,

Every effort has been made to ensure that major releases are problem free,
this has been the reason for the delay in major releases, however if you
notice that between major releases we make available several interim
releases just as Scott had done in the past.

Reasons for Service Agreement renewal

1. Unlimited telephone and email support

2. AVG virus signatures for 12 months

3. ZEROHOUR updates for 12 months (After initial activation)

4. Any release of the software during 12 months

5. Upgrades and releases of new files like all_list.dat etc.

6. Access to Declude filter updates

7. Maintenance of a continued SA is required by our TS which means if
you lapse you can be charged the extra difference to be brought up to date.

8. Last but not least a team that is dedicated to it’s customers.

9. NOWHERE can you get this for the price you pay as a perpetual
license customer. If you do have an alternative that can compare feel free
to post it.

As for the ZEROHOUR the way it was implemented was different to the other
tests so it is on our dev list but not with a high priority other items that
come before it are things like integration with the new message sniffer dll
in development. A new test being evaluated called FST. Compatibility with SM
5.x – Compatibility with IMAIL 10.x etc etc.

After seeing Matt’s post here about not renewing his JunkMail subscription.
I’m asking Declude to respond to the group as to why any of us with
