[Bug 31964] iPod shows up twice
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31964 Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: My iPod shows up twice in nautilus. Once it's listed as ipod and the other time as Apple iPod Music Player: Steve's iPod. I can only mount and unmount from the entry ipod. Also, I think the iPod sometimes shows up in my Places menu, but it doesn't seem to be doing that now. [Bug 28348] Dapper: EOG distorts thumbnails in collection by upsampling/enlarging
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/28348 Task: ubuntu eog Sourcepackagename: eog = libgnomeui Comment: Upstream comments about that: This bug is fixed for all formats but SVG. In fact, this was a libgnomeui bug (See #328120). The SVG thumbnail is generated with the 'normal' thumbnail size (128x128) but it has to be resized to fit the thumbnail area for EOG which is 96x96. This is why for some SVG, the thumbnail gets distorted. Ok, I'll consider this bug solved. The SVG case is not really a bug. [Bug 31675] Problem when making many users with users admin. tool at one time
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31675 Comment: Well, I tried adding 15 users and I still couldn't reproduce the freeze. However, I got a nastier problem instead! After adding all fifteen and clicking 'OK', the app seemed to be doing something for a few seconds, then quit (no crash report etc). So I took a look at /etc/passwd and none of the new users were listed. Directories had been created for them in /home though. I then found out that I couldn't use sudo (root), because of some authentication error. On typing sudo commandname, it would prompt me for my password and then fail to execute the command, silently. I couldn't use slocate either because 'the slocate group does not exist'. With my root access gone, I had to reinstall Dapper off CD. [Bug 29932] Add virtual folder with recent documents
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29932 Comment: Le samedi 18 février 2006 à 22:16 +, seguso a écrit : Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29932 Comment: Apologies for not having the time to make a spec, however I am going to elaborate here. Thank you for the comments. The bug is set as a wishlist if anybody wants to pick up to do a spec he's free to do it Sebastien, the places menu does not help with the following scenarios: 1. I want to open a recently used file with a nondefault program. That's a panel bug, a right click could allow to open with 2. I want to delete, in one shot, a bunch of recently used files (very useful after burning a bunch of movies on a dvd). That one could be useful, but that could be integrated to some other places (menu editor by example) 3. I want to rename a recently used file; The way it should work (and the new upstream implementation will be that way probably), it that they should monitored and the entry should update if you rename it from nautilus directly All this is irritating because I recall having used the file just a minute ago, so I have a feeling the second access should be easier. But it isn't: I have to travel the whole route again and locate the file again (among the 100 items). The application should have it on the top of the previously open Now, it is clear the places menu does not solve the problem. But a virtual folder would. Why? Because, when you need a file and you recall having used it a minute ago, you would simply click the recent files button in nautilus' toolbar, and find the file you need ON TOP of the list. Or almost on top. Since the list would be sorted by time of recent usage, descending. So, no need for navigating to the correct folder, and no need to locate the file within the folder. Right, it would be nice but requires some hacking and is not trivial so it'll not happen for dapper. Note that upstream is working on a new recent files system and that may be worth waiting on that implementation to write the code rather writing something that will need to be done again soon -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 31601] default playlist format when creating new playlists in Serpentine
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31601 Comment: That's an excelent idea! I was thinking another problem of having a default playlist as default. If the porpose is to create a relation between a file type and an application then it fails too because _should_ serpentine will always appear in open withSerpentine menu entry and therefore it's not a explicit place to be. 'Open with...' class aplications are the ones that the user _knows_ which file type is associated with each file. Even if the only knows the class type (playlists, symbolized by an icon) then he will find out which playlist formats the application he wants is registred by trial and error. That makes me give a +1 on showing the dialog. Another thing that could be done is to mention in the dialog that 'M3U format' is the most common one, shared amongs the most number of multimedia applications. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 30194] Infinite error-dialogue loop if swapspace can't be created
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30194 Comment: On the main gimp window, go: file - preferences - folders There is a text-box for swap folder. This is where gimp stores image information when there is insufficient main memory. If that setting points to a non-existing directory, gimp will not use a swap folder, and runs into problems when it can't use main memory. When gimp runs out of memory, it pops up a warning. [Bug 31979] Screensaver should allow selective random
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31979 Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I would like it to be possible to be selective about which screensavers gets to be in the random list. I have a few favourites but currently it is all or nothing. A simplistic way to implement this would be to simply allow CTRL- selecting in the screensavers list, see attached screenshot for mock-up. It's not totally discoverable but OTOH it was the first thing I tried... and it could be mentioned in the help for those who look for it. Those who don't look for it will never notice. A further step would be to have a separate GUI for this, but I'm note sure if it's needed. [Bug 29253] Crash on second login
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29253 Comment: I used Breezy when this happened. It has not happened on Xubuntu with gdm installed (after my harddrive malfunctioned), and I don't know if it ever will happen again. Maybe it was an error with that particular install, as I had quite a number of those strange things happen, like shared libraries not being linked to their soname and a bunch of programs not finding my soundcard and creating strange artifacts on the screen while playing video.
