[Bug 33132] GDM cannot write to authorisation file
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/33132 Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I am unsure if these bugs are linked but my system is also afflicted with Bug #33130 in gdm (Ubuntu): Dapper - $HOME/.dmrc ignored After bug #33130 appears and has been waved off, I then get the message: GDM could not write to your authorisation file. This could mean that you are out of disk space or that your home directory could not be opened for writing. In any case it is not possible to log in. Please contact your system administrator. I can assure you that there is plenty of space on the partition. 19+gb in fact. I can also state that if you type 'nautilus' from the command line, the default gnome background shows up. [Bug 33139] Doesn't clear the track list after CD ejection
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/33139 Description changed to: If I load a CD with Sound Juicer, then eject it from Sound Juicer too (Disc menu -- Eject), the CD ejects fine, but the track list remains. And if I try to play one of them, I get of course a read error. I guess the track list should be cleared when the CD is ejected ? This seems to happen with every CD I try. [Bug 32545] gnome-cups-manager suggests wrong driver for HP Deskjet 930C
Public bug report changed: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32545 Comment: Breezy Badger 5.10 Dapper Drake 20060228 Please note that there are 2 Manufacturer indications used in PPDs for Hewlett Packard: HP and HP (HPLIP). You specifically need to select HP (HPLIP) as Manufacturer! Then select HP DeskJet 930C as model and you will see under Driver hpijs (recommended). Please note that in the case you manually added /usr/share/ppd/HP- Deskjet_930C-hpijs.ppd the Manufacturer indication is HP (HPLIP). Workaround: Edit the file /usr/share/ppd/HP-Deskjet_930C-hpijs.ppd and change the Manufacturer indication from HP (HPLIP) to HP. Now add you printer again, you will find the printer under HP indicating the recommended driver hpijs (recommended). Note: you will see that hpijs (recommended) is listed twice under driver, this is because of this bug https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+bug/32302. The problem is in package hplip-ppds in breezy and dapper 20060228. These PPDs incorrectly use HP (HPLIP) as *Manufacturer string. This is not allowed according to the Adobe PPD Specification v4.3. [Bug 33210] unable to move files across file systems from desktop
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/33210 Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I have my trash on a separate file system from my desktop. When I select an icon on the desktop and try to delete it with the delete key, I get an error msg about not on the same filesystem and am asked if I want to continue. The options presented are Cancel and Retry. If I delete the file by dragging it to the wastebasket, it is all fine. So, - as a minor issue, if in fact moving files across file systems is something that users shouldn't be able to do implicitly, this should probably be a warning, not an error (I'm filing a related bug on the question of whether this can be an implicit action) - more importantly, it asks if I would like to continue. Suppose I do want to continue. The best I can do is select Retry, which tries to do the same thing and generates the same error message. If I acknowledge the error message and explicitly say I want to continue, it should allow the operation to continue, but currently does not -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 33212] deleting files across file systems
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/33212 Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I have my trash on a separate partition from my desktop. If I try to delete a file from the desktop, I get an error message about moving files across file systems (which has some issues, related bug 33210) I guess that there may be situations when the user should be warned about moving files across file systems (am not sure about that, but am guessing that there must be a reason for the warning/error). But in this case I have explicitly moved my trash to a different file system and don't really want to be stopped or warned about file systems every time I delete something from my desktop. Is it possible to distinguish between the situations that really do merit a warning (whatever they are) and the situation where I clearly do want to move across file systems (in this case by the fact that I moved my trash)? -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 33224] number pad operator keys not always recognized by gcalctool
Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/33224 Affects: gcalctool (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I'm using Dapper Drake testing (Flight 4 + updates) and Gcalctool, the GNOME calculator v5.7.30.
