[Bug 33120] HAL 0.5.7 broke iPod mount point

2006-03-10 Thread Paul Drain

Works well now.

After rebooting, for some reason I had to remove the Rhythmbox
configuration files from .gnome2/ and re-run the first-time setup
dialogue before it picked up my iPod again though?

[Bug 34293] Fake warning of low disk space

2006-03-10 Thread Matej Kovacic
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34293

Affects: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
   Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs
 Status: Confirmed

Description:
After installation to Dapper I received warning I have low space on my
system disk. However, /sda1 is not my root partition. It is my
Windows C: partition, and my / is /sda4, which is mre than 80% free.
/home and /boot partitions are also not critical, but Windows partitions
are quite full.

I believe that Dapper checks only how free is the first partition and
DOES NOT check whether this partition belongs to Ubunto or not. This
should be fixed.

[Bug 34313] scrollbar thumb overshoots when resizing dialogue

2006-03-10 Thread Tristan Wibberley
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34313

Affects: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Not sure if this should be an engine bug...

This can be seen in the Login Window Preferences under the Accessibility
tab. After clicking on a sound file selector button, the selector dialog
that appears can be resized vertically (made larger) so that the
scrollbar thumb overshoots below the end of the scrollbar. This is very
easily seen with the new Ubuntu default theme, but also to a lesser
extent with grand canyon (it is very minor with grand canyon).

Clicking on the thumb makes it jump back into position (resetting the
scroll position of the file listing), but leaves the remains of the
scrollbar behind.

- it should do something sensible like give an error message and allow

[Bug 34321] Gnome-session doesn't respect turning off automatic session saving and opens Nautilus by itself

2006-03-10 Thread Artem Vakhitov
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34321

Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I've found that gnome-session doesn't properly handle turning off
automatic session saving. Here's what I done:

1) Turn on auto_save_session via gconf-editor.
2) Leave some program open - say, Gnome Terminal.
3) Reboot. Upon login, Gnome Terminal pops up, which is what is supposed to
happen.
4) Turn off auto_save_session via gconf-editor. Close all apps.
5) Reboot. Upon login, gconf-editor opens, which was closed before rebooting,
as well as Nautilus, which wasn't launched at all.

To fix this manually, I have to delete ~/.gnome2/session file after
turning off automatic session saving.

[Bug 34347] Signal Strength Colors and Size are Off

2006-03-10 Thread Michael Favia
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34347

Affects: gnome-netstatus (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
The signal strength bar that is used with wireless connections was recently
changed to a long horizontal bar and the colors that are used seem to be in
reverse. I would have thought this was upstream but the icon and appearance are
correct (but gnome themed) when the gnome theme is in use. I'll attach a screen
shot to demonstrate the problem.
==Problem==
As you can see the applet now takes up way too much horizontal space and
doesn't really add appreciably to justify it. Also, my signal strength is at
90% but the stronger color on the bar takes up only 25% and from the wrong
side. So im assuming that the colors have been reversed (unless this is
intentional). I also personally think the colors are a little strong but i
think that has to do with the theme package that was introduced this morning.
==Solution==
Upright the signal strength meter when displayed on top/bottom panel, and swap
the colors of the meter as well.

[Bug 34344] Find should be Search in gthumb

2006-03-10 Thread Andy Price
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34344

Affects: gthumb (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
In gthumb on an up-to-date Dapper install, the Edit-Find menu item is
not labeled Edit-Search as recommended in the GNOME Human Interface
Guidelines. See http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/2.0/menus-
standard.html#menu-standard-edit for reference (Table 4.8):

If the command allows the user to search for content in places other
than the current document, for example other open documents, other
documents on disk, or a remote network location, label this item Search
instead of Find.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open gthumb
2) Click on the Edit menu
3) Click on the Find menu item in the Edit menu

Actual Results:
1) In the Edit menu there is a Find menu item which has a Ctrl+F shortcut
2) The dialog that opens when you click on Find is entitled Find but the rest
of the dialog refers to searching

Expected results:
1) The Edit menu should have a menu item called Search
2) The Search item should have a more intuitive keyboard shortcut than Ctrl+F
since Search begins with S
3) The Find dialog should be entitled Search

Works for me, and looks good, although the icon theme is messed up (will
only show Tango folders, not Dapper folders).

Definitely needs work, but looks good when its at 100%.

[Bug 34356] The GIMP print preview dialogue window is too big!

2006-03-10 Thread Conrad Knauer
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34356

Affects: gimp (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I use a laptop that has a fixed screen resolution of 1024 x 768; I use
two gnome panels on the bottom of the screen, each of which are set to
24 pixels, so I have over 700 pixels vertically. This is more than
enough for just about any window, except the print preview dialogue
window in the GIMP.

When I select File - Print... said window takes up more space than I
have vertically and I can't even read the text of the six buttons on the
bottom as they are almost completely hidden. Setting the two gnome
panels to autohide allows me to see the text of the buttons (Help,
About, Save Settings, Print and Save Settings, Cancel, Print), but its
still apparent that the window is taking up more space than is available
vertically. Horizontally, there is a lot of free space though.

Please either adjust the geometry of the print preview window such that
it can fit into a screen size of at least 800 x 600 (though fitting 640
x 480 would be even better for those still using older hardware; I don't
think that the window takes up much more area than that and could
probably be compacted a bit; the main problem is that its layed out in
such a way that its taller than it is wide, which is silly unless your
monitor is tilted 90 degrees), and/or use a scrollbar at the side of the
window. Either way will fix the problem.

[Bug 34347] Signal Strength Colors and Size are Off

2006-03-10 Thread Marius Gedminas
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34347

Comment:
I second the request to conver the signal strength bar to a vertical
one.

It appears that only one of the four bars is ever coloured: when there
is no signal, the leftmost bar is red (and the other three are gray);
when the signal is strong, the rightmost bar is orange (and the other
three are gray). This is misleading; only one bright bar out of four to
me implies a weak signal, not a strong signal.

2006-03-10 Thread Sylvain Defresne
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34373

Affects: ubuntu-artwork (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
When using the Human theme, GtkDialog nesting a GtkComboBox (for example
gnome-sound-properties or gimp layer tool) have a white background when
all other windows have a grey background.

This problem is visible in the attached screenshot. I don't think it is
a problem in the application as the attached very simple program
exhibits it.

For information :
$ dpkg --status ubuntu-artwork
Package: ubuntu-artwork
Version: 6

[Bug 34375] Multi-mode (audio+data) CDs always opened by Sound Juicer

2006-03-10 Thread Andrew Jorgensen
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34375

Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
If I insert a CD that has both audio and a data track I am prompted to
choose which I would like to open the disk as. This is an improvement
over 2.12, but if I later attempt to reopen the folder using nautilus
(or the Places menu) it always opens Sound Juicer to rip the tracks.

An expert user can find his data under /media but the average user has
no way to get back to the data track after that first view.

[Bug 34377] Ejecting multi-mode (audio+data) CDs doesn't close browser window

2006-03-10 Thread Andrew Jorgensen
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34377

Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
If I try to eject a CD that contains both audio and data I would expect
the nautilus browser windows open on that data to close like they do for
a data-only CD, but the browser window stays open.

This is probably related to Bug 34375.

If you know a way to do this you are welcome, the menu definition is not

without the line like it was before

[Bug 34380] writing to media dialog when ejecting a CD

2006-03-10 Thread Andrew Jorgensen
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/34380

Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I only saw this once and only for a moment (not long enough to get a
screenshot or know what it said exactly), but it's clear what's going
on. A while back some code was added to help the user know that it was
not yet safe to remove a removable device (like a USB flash disk). It
seems that this code was triggered by an unmount operation on my CD
(read-only) taking too long. Why it took too long (only by a second I'd
guess) is another problem. The real problem is that the progress dialog
claimed that data was being written to my disk.

This could scare a user. It would have scared me if I hadn't known the
background of that feature. Perhaps a little more logic could be put in
so that the dialog is not triggered in this situation, or the text could
be made more generic.

Another thing to think about is that if packet-writing were enabled on
the CD drive and I was ejecting a CD-RW then the dialog would have been
exactly right and a good thing. Is there some way to tell what the
reason for a slow unmount is?

Hello,

In fact, this bug may be fixed only by patching gtk. Maybe gtk should remove
trailing and doubled separators.

I'm really new to C/gtk+ programming. May be shall i be able to send a patch.
Not sure.
