If this package gets renamed to such a pointless name as ekiga

people are pointed at the new name when doing an apt-cache search on the
previous name of the software (gnomemeeting or possibly also gnome-

[Bug 34247] Trash always empty.

2006-03-24 Thread Joolz
Public bug report changed:

I have the opposite problem. Trash applet 2.12.1 on Breezy shows a full
icon and 2 items in Trash tooltip even though it's empty. Rightclick
and empty trash doesn't help. ls -al ~/.Trash or nautilus show no
contents apart from . and ..

Removing and putting back the applet solves the issue. This is NOT a
hard problem, sometimes the thrash applet will correctly show that it's
empty.

[Bug 36392] weather applet gives incorrect updating... feedback.

2006-03-24 Thread Lex Hider
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/36392

Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
steps to reproduce:
add the weather-applet to the panel.
display will be: ?--
tooltip on hover will be: Updating...

Hitting update from context menu does nothing.
Hitting details from context menu shows that my city is: DEFAULT_LOCATION

It appears that is not updating at all. It's just like that default
until you go to preferences and set your location.

I am suggesting two possible fixes. Perhaps the easy way to approach it
would be to implement (A) until (B) can be implemented.

POSSIBLE FIXES:
(A) When the weather applet is added to the panel, the preferences dialog
automatically comes up with the Location tab selected.

(B) Use the information on location obtained from the installer to set
the location. This is existing bug: 9015

Now that I think about it, (A) might be better due to the likelihood of
finer detail in location info in weather applet vs timezone?

When synchronizing the Palm memos the filenames and the file contents are in

open Gedit from menu, then open the file and first saying that the file has ISO

Creating a new memo on have to change the caracter set on save and eventually
change the filename if it contains non ASCII characters. This is not user

Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/32299

Task: ubuntu gnome-panel

 Status: Unconfirmed = Rejected

Comment:
So if you place different instances of the same applet at difference
places of the desktop and decide to decremente the counter, which one
would be dropped? I think that would look ugly too. The drag and drop
way works fine if you want to add several applets quickly to the panel.
I'm rejecting the bug since we are not likely to do a such change. Feel
free to keep arguing with some mockups if you have some nice idea for a
better way, we can reopen the wishlist in that case. Anyway that would
be low priority since that's just cosmetic and small usuability stuff

[Bug 36414] Evolution refuses to print in grayscale

2006-03-24 Thread ShamrockUK
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/36414

Affects: evolution (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Evolution appears to not acknowledge system printer settings on a stock
Ubuntu Breezy install.

It always prints out emails with blue email addresses and with a thin
colour border around the whole page - this slows down printing as well
as using a large amount of a single colour over a period of time.

I've selected grayscale in the printer properties yet this doesn't seem
to have stopped it. OpenOffice (and all other apps) print colours in
grayscale without complaining, but Evolution persists and I can't find
any internal printer settings in the programme itself.

My printer is a HP Deskject 840C and the exact colour settings under the
'advanced' tab of printer properties are:

300dpi, draft, greyscale, black + colour cartridge

'Printout mode' under this is listed as draft greyscale.

Cheers guys :)

[Bug 29050] cupsys cannot access printer/scanner device

2006-03-24 Thread Mark W. Tomlinson
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29050

Comment:
I see that the status on this bug has been changed to fix released. The
update to cupsys may have fixed the multifunction, USB-connected device issue,
but the problem still remains that my parallel-connected printer, which was
recognized IDed by Breezy, doesn't seem to exist for Dapper.

This is not a showstopper (I can make my printer work). But I think
expecting Dapper to at least work as well as Breezy is not unreasonable.

[Bug 36419] sort windows by recent usage

2006-03-24 Thread seguso
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/36419

Affects: libwnck (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Hi,
there's a quick feature which would improve my desktop experience a lot. I'd
like an alternate mode where the taskbar would sort its buttons by recent usage
(like ALT-TAB does).
This means that, each time I activate a window, the corresponding taskbar
button would be shifted to the leftmost position.

Why? This way it would be much easier to frequently toggle between two
open windows. I'd start looking to the left and instantly find the
window I need. This is currently very difficult when many windows are
open. Reason why I need to use ALT-TAB very often, or keep few windows
open.

More in general, this would allow to keep many windows open and still
minimize the average time needed to find a window, because the most used
windows would tend to concentrate to the left.

I know this does not exploit spatial memory, and you are against adding
options, but I thought I'd try and ask anyway.

This is more than likely the same bug as
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+bug/27919

I have this problem (or a very similar one) on my desktop at home (but not on
any other system I've installed dapper on) on a computer with an Nvidia card,
using the nv driver. The original reporter of bug 27919 reported that he was
using the nv driver as well. If this bug is actually in cairo, I'm not sure
if the nv driver could have anything to do with it (I don't understand enough
about cario/X-server/video is what I mean), but... Lakin, were you using the
nv driver for X?

[Bug 33210] unable to move files across file systems from desktop

2006-03-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/33210

Comment:
The other bug you filled had some hints about that. Doing a ln -s
some_path_on_other_partition .Trash gives the same message you described

That's the same issue than upstream
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=309592

bug #6312 and bug #26633 are about the same issue, marking as duplicate of the
second

Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/29497

Comment:
No, I was using the fglrx and/or ati driver. It seems this is no
longer a problem for me with the current dapper upgrads.
