[Bug 58215] Re: Evolution's compose mail window doesn't allow standard Linux copy from in any address fields

2006-09-09 Thread rocifier
I also experienced this, but it's not exactly as you say; I think I
narrowed down the inconsistencies... here's what I found:

Copying from the reply-to: field and pasting works anywhere and you
can paste as many times as you like.

Copying from the to:, cc:, and bcc: fields only paste _once_ back
in to their own field, and no where else. If you try to paste somewhere
else with the middle button, it won't do anything, and won't let you
paste the clipboard data anymore - it's like it's been erased, yet it
hasn't because the keyboard and menu commands always work.

Copying from the subject: and post-to: fields allow infinite pasting
outside of the subject field, but once you paste in the subject:
field, it won't paste anymore, anywhere. I.e. pasting only works once
within the subject field like the to: field except you can paste
elseware.

All the above work as expected (infinite pastes anywhere) using CTRL+C
and CTRL+V. The problem is only with the middle mouse button, and there
are definitely inconsistencies between the above fields in evolution and
other applications.

Can you confirm all of these Jim? Can anyone else please so we can set
this bug to confirmed. Cheers.

[Bug 59563] Re: Unixish keyboard shortcuts stopped working again

2006-09-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
That's due to 92_from_svn_init_cleanup.patch. xchat-gnome uses to do some init
itself in a non-standard way instead of letting the GNOME libs doing the job.
The accel changes have moved from .xchat2/accelerator_map to
.gnome2/accels/XChat-GNOME IRC Chat. The SVN has fixed the program id which
make it change again to .gnome2/accels/xchat-gnome. I've applied that patch
to xchat-gnome 1:0.13-0ubuntu4 so people don't have to redo their changes when
upgrading to edgy and redo them again when the next xchat-gnome version is
packaged.

xchat-gnome is not part of the default installation and most users
probably don't change their accels so I'm not sure it's worth to spend
efforts on trying to provide an upgrade path for that. Setting low
priority

[Bug 52022] [network-admin] gnome-system-tools does not support 802.1x or WPA

2006-09-09 Thread Matthew Carpenter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

gnome-system-tools does not support 802.1x or WPA.
This functionality has been moved into ifupdown, which is directly manipulated
by gnome-system-tools (network-admin), potentially overwriting the
configuration of network devices.

[Bug 54478] Re: [network-admin] bug with several location in System-Networking (network-admin)

2006-09-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug. You probably have been confused by the way network-admin
works on dapper.
When you add a profile it's created with the information you have at the
moment. When you do changes, you don't modify the selected profile but the
running session. To store the changes to add profile you have to add a profile
with the same name. Reading that, do you think the tool works as described or
do you still have some non expected behaviour from it?

The way the tool work on dapper is really not obvious and we worked with
upstream to change that on edgy. Now the add button next to the
profile has been changed to a save one which open a window asking for
the name of the profile to use and the name is preset to the current
profile. Do you think that behaviour change fixes your issue?

As this is on a tab of the programm no bug-buddy or core i have. Terminal works
really well except the tab feature.
I have changed the command that gnome terminal runs for backend to screen but
the behavior didn't changed. This thing may be told as the tabs close
immediately with any command entered.

I will try compiling gnome-terminal with debugging symbols from ubuntu

[Bug 27896] [network-admin] Need iwconfig ... restricted ... to get on some networks

2006-09-09 Thread Nicolai Langfeldt
Public bug reported:

I use the /usr/bin/network-admin tool to manage my networks on a centrino with
2200 wifi chipset. Excellent tool.

I've found that when I use this the security mode is set to open. To get onto
the WiFi network at work this needs to be restricted. open/restricted radio
buttons would seem in order. When I issue

  iwconfig eth1 key restricted 1 ------..

the machine associates with the base station at once.

[Bug 3574] Re: Help button doesn't work in gnome-about-me

2006-09-09 Thread Vassilis Pandis
AFAIK from upstream comments, the problem is that there is no
documentation to go with the Help button. So IMVHO it's better to hide
the button until somebody writes up the documentation so that users
don't click on it and wonder why doesn't is show help. It's not a
solution of course. It's a workaround until somebody writes the docs.

[Bug 59660] Gnome-media Volume Applet controls wrong device when volume control in USB headset is operated

2006-09-09 Thread Paul Stimpson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

Distro: Ubuntu Dapper 6.06
Package: gnome-media 2.14.2-0ubuntu1
Application: Volume Applet 2.14.3 using Gstreamer 0.10

Background: I have a Logitech Premium USB Headset 350
(http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/GB/EN,CRID=103,CONTENTID=10013)

It includes volume and mic mute buttons in the cord. When I click the
volume buttons the Gnome Volume Applet OSD appears and the bar inside
it reflects the changes I am requesting with the buttons but the headset
volume does not change. Opening the applet reveals that the master
volume on my laptop's ICH6 on-board device is being changed rather than
the volume of the USB headset. If I explicitly set the Logitech device I
can set the volume by dragging the slider inside the Volume Applet but
not with the buttons or the quick volume slider that appears if I click
the applet icon.

I'm not sure about this. How are users supposed to discover such a
 shortcut?

by reading the documentation

I would prefer a checkbox, which is just as easy and much more
 obvious.

If you have some mockup feel free to comment with them or bring the
discussion to the desktop list

[Bug 59682] Applications menu flickers intermittently

2006-09-09 Thread Laura Conrad
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

I upgraded my Thinkpad laptop from Dapper to Edgy, via apt-get.

When I mouse over the Applications menu at the top of the screen (but
not the System or Places menu), it flickers and I can't select items
with the mouse. This problem was the first thing I saw after rebooting
with the upgrade. Subsequently it went away, but is back now after
another reboot.

[Bug 59682] Re: Applications menu flickers intermittently

2006-09-09 Thread Holger Bauer
I think is a dupe of
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/52405
Does deleting /etc/xdg/menu/debian-menu.menu like mentioned in the above
bugreport stop that behaviour?

[Bug 59688] screensaver starts when movie plays

2006-09-09 Thread David Prieto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Hi, I thought that playing a movie in Totem was supposed to keep gnome-
screensaver from start however I just watched a movie and had to
move the mouse once and again because the screensaver kept going off. Is
this supposed to work like this?

Thanks.

By the way, I'm on Edgy. Could that be related?
