[Bug 139145] Re: Run terminal keyboard shortcut doesnt work

2007-09-13 Thread Raivis Dejus
I am running latest gutsy. Installed from tribe5 CD and all latest
updates installed.

I get no error message. When i press the shrtcut simply nothing happens.
If I assign the same shortcut to some other function it works fine.

[Bug 8629] Re: Evolution setup wizard does not fit in 800x600

2007-09-13 Thread Andrew Frank
i have a portrait screen and evolution does now NEARLY adapt to it (gutsy tribe
5). but unfortunately only
NEARLY - it does not take into account the amount of space on the left margin
where my panel sits.

the window is has the correct size for my screen, and accomodates even
the panels at the bottom, but not the one to the left.

i hope this is easy to fix now -- as most of the problem is gone.

thank you for the improvement!

andrew

[Bug 139316] wrong size in web browser

2007-09-13 Thread Mark Howard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

When opening pdfs in the epiphany web browser, the evince window is the wrong
size. Sometimes it takes up the whole screen, i.e. parts of it are on top of
the epiphany toolbar and menu bars -- but it doesn't have any window
decorations and is always on top.
Other times, it is embedded within a tab as expected, but is only given half of
the space of the tab, so one half of the screen is grey and the other half has
the pdf document squashed into it.

[Bug 8629] Re: Evolution setup wizard does not fit in 800x600

2007-09-13 Thread Andrew Frank
there are limits on how much a sub-window in evolution can be shrunk - why?
the side panel should be reducable to less and the mail window equally.

i think part of the problem are that there are limits in how small the
windows can be made and these limits are too large. the resizing of
windows and parts of the window work well, othewise (down to this
limits).

can this be checked (and hopefully fixed)

2007-09-13 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 139368] [gutsy] gconfd starts with session, but apps say that gconfd can't be contacted and user settings are not loaded

2007-09-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I halted my system normally, but when I booted it again and logged in, a
window popped up saying that gconfd can't be contacted. This happened to
me a couple of times. In feisty and previous releases, this could happen
because of logging out by pressing ctrl+alt+backspace (there are bugs
opened) but I suspect this bug is different. Actually, in many cases,
gconfd deadlocks when pressing ctrl+alt+backspace, but the case I am
reporting is different since I just booted my system. It seems like
gconfd was just too slow to be reached on time for the start of the
session, but that might be just an impression.

In any case, I have a strangely looking gtk theme and all settings are
gnome defaults I suppose. However, compiz settings have been loaded
normally, even if I am using the gconf-backend, which seems to confirm
the too slow to get session startup in time thesis, since compiz is
really slow to start, and might be the last process in the session to
attempt to contact gconfd. This is all I can say by looking at the
problem externally. I attach my .xsession-errors and syslog, if you
need more information tell me, when it happens again I will try to
provide that.

I've had this problem on gutsy for some time now, but believed it to be
a result of my broken configuration or something. Totem crashes when

[Bug 139368] [gutsy] gconfd starts with session, but apps say that gconfd can't be contacted and user settings are not loaded

2007-09-13 Thread Vincenzo Ciancia
Public bug reported:

I can add that, just logging out and then back in, everything works
fine. Notice that at bootup system is really slowed down because gdm
autologin happens while other daemons are starting in background, so
there is high disk load at my first login.

[Bug 139370] [gutsy] Home Folder not translated, even though translation exists

nothing if some capable Ubuntu developer gave the Gnome team a hand.

[Bug 139393] evolution filters must be specific for mailboxes

Sorry, thought the auto attacment said where I was.

A Blank desktop (?)

Select System, Preferences from the MENU LIST ON LEFT

My bug report starts here with adding tick to the un-ticked control

BTW how does one change Main Menu if the Main Menu item (or

[Bug 139399] find next unread should not stop at end of folder

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

go to next unread message is important to check for new messages which
have been moved to other folders.

it presently stops at the end of the folder and does not go to other

[Bug 139401] Show Totem new logo as default screen when Totem is launched without opening media

2007-09-13 Thread Pecisk
Public bug reported:

1. Choose Applications = Multimedia = Totem
2. Totem shows up with old logo theme in application's screen

Totem Mozilla plugin uses new logo theme as background when not launched
(t.i. waiting for press to play), which looks much nicer and up to date.
So it would be very good to use it also for standard Totem.

[Bug 139320] Changing desktop background doesn't work

2007-09-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This is on the latest gutsy. I cannot change the desktop wallpaper using
the gnome-appearance-properties control panel tool. I can add wallpapers
to the list of wallpapers, but cannot actually change it.

I can set a picture as a wallpaper by dragging the file from Nautilus,
where it is automatically tiled. But if I then try to change this (to
'Zoomed' or whatever) using the applet, nothing happens.

I can't even remove the wallpaper by setting a solid colour.

Can anyone else confirm?

2007-09-13 Thread Wilbur Harvey
Same problem in Feisty.
In the file manager, go to Edit--Preferences--Behaviou and set Include a
Delete command that bypasses Trash
Then you can, at least, delete the file.
Still broken, but easier to deal with.
In my case, I have a raid, /md0, where directories like /opt, /usr, /var, and
/home are bind mounted to /md0/opt etc. This is necessary since the system
cannot boot directly off the raid.
