[Bug 155236] Gutsy deskbar shortcut problem

2007-10-21 Thread Raghavendra Nayak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: deskbar-applet

When changing the focus keyboard shortcut (by default AltF3), the previous
shortcut key is still active. You need to logoff and login again to solve the
problem.

This bug is present in gutsy.

Same bug was present in Dapper, later it was fixed in feisty. check
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/deskbar-applet/+bug/50636

To reproduce:

1. Add Deskbar on the panel.
2. Change the shortcut key to something else (I used ctrlaltF)
3. Unfocus Deskbar and test the new key combination.
4. Unfocus Deskbar again and then test with the previous key combination.

[Bug 152773] Taskbar is shared by all desktops

2007-10-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: compiz

I am running Gutsy's Compiz with Xgl and I have the desktop in cube
configuration. When I rotate the cube with my mouse to find the face
that contains a program I'm looking for, the task bar for each desktop
is the same as the desktop I was on when the rotate began. This means
that if the window I am looking for is hidden behind another one on a
different desktop, I have to flip through to every desktop in order to
find it.

In order to fix the bug, create a different instance of the window list
for each face of the cube and show them on the correct positions. This
will make finding windows much easier and will improve usability.

Please note this bug is a duplicate, all the further discussion should
happen in bug #66104.

 workaround,
 1. change input module in input field(right click) to scim
 2. change input module through im-switch permanantly. For Korean, choose
 'scim-hangul' instead of 'scim'(default)
 $ im-switch -s scim-hangul

Using im-switch -s scim-immodule is better. I plan to remove
the scim-hangul im-switch setting in hardy.

[Bug 134360] Re: crash when changing image alignment in signature

2007-10-21 Thread Fabien LEFEVRE
Hi all,

I have the same problem.
It was on Feisty, I still have it on Gusty with last update. (Evolution 2.12.0,
Ubuntu package 2.12.0-0Ubuntu5)
It's the first thing I have test on my new Gusty installation. (So I think
Gnome / Evolution are clean)

To reproduce : Insert image in your message body (in HTML message).
Then, right click on it, choose Style and Picture Style (- I think,
I have french version). Finally, Change Alignment from Bottom to
another like Middle or Top = Crash !

I cannot get evolution to crash with the steps you told us, please try to
obtain a backtrace http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and attach the
file to the bug report.
I follow instruction, backtrace is attach to this report. Hope it's correct and
useful.

you can attach gdb to evolution-data-server if that's it which is
crashing
I don't know how to do that ? I've a already install gdb package of the
evolution-data-server.

Sorry for English, I'm french but I can send you more precision.

[Bug 155269] No Help-Report a Problem menu in Chess and Sudoku

2007-10-21 Thread Robert Ancell
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

The python games in Gnome games (Chess and Sudoku) do not have the extra
Ubuntu help menu items (Get Help Online, Translate This Application,
Report A Problem). All other Gnome games have these items.

As the upstream Chess developer I am interested in these menu items as
this would make it easier for users to report problems with AIs not
behaving properly (which don't cause Chess to crash bringing up the
automatic bug form). Please let us know if there is anything we can do
to make these menus easier to add.

[Bug 155285] Terminal debug output is broken in Gutsy (ekiga -d 4)

2007-10-21 Thread Yannick Defais
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ekiga

Hi,

In Gutsy, Ekiga (2.0.11) don't provide any more useful debug output. (no
more SIP protocol in the output).

Step to reproduce:

Start Ekiga in a terminal like this:
$ ekiga -d 4

Normally, you should see all SIP protocol in the terminal. In Gutsy
there is none of it. SIP protocol is a text based protocol.

This problem is *very* important for upstream, as this is the standard
way to understand most of the problems reported by users. Without those
informations, most of the time you can't understand problems reported.

Regards,
Yannick

Same problem here, after Feisty to Gutsy upgrade.
No NetworkManager, hald won't start, exit menu options take well over 1 minute
to pop up.
See complete description here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=583940
Reinstalling Hal and Dbus makes no difference.
Reordering init script links also makes no difference.
Changing CONCURRENCY around also makes no difference.
Gutsy's HAL just won't start...

[Bug 155285] Re: Terminal debug output is broken in Gutsy (ekiga -d 4)

2007-10-21 Thread Yannick Defais
Hi,

A workaround to this is to install libopal-2.2-ptrace instead of
libopal-2.2

$ sudo apt-get install libopal-2.2-ptrace

then

$ ekiga -d 4

This will produce a useful debug output with the SIP protocol.

Thus, I think OPAL and Ekiga should be repackaged.

Regards,
Yannick

[Bug 155319] Re: updatemanager problem

2007-10-21 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 55278] Re: Nautilus crashes on folder with many thousands of files

I'm able to reproduce this behavior as follows:

1. Download this file:

(if that exact file isn't available simply download the latest full-release
here: http://openclipart.org/media/downloads)

2. Before extracting it with File Roller (the default extractor), be
sure to un-check the Re-create Folders option, so that all the files

[Bug 155333] A bug with date, when i'm writing notes in Evolution

2007-10-21 Thread Tomek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When i'm creating a new note in Evolution Notes, i have a problem with date
format.
Default date format, which evolution is placing in text field is, in my
location, dd mm .
But the date format, which Evolution needs is dd/mm/. So i'm getting an
error and can't write note.
The solution in this case, which i have, is to place date in properly format
from hand.
The date have to be placed in properly format automatically.

[Bug 128803] Re: [Gutsy] very slow gnome startup

2007-10-21 Thread NoWhereMan
I have found the origin of the problem for me; with feisty I had to boot
using

  acpi=force irqpoll

as I had suggested for instance in bug #58117

Now, the parameters to make everything work are

  acpi=force pnpbios=off

irqpoll slows everything down, starting from the kernel itself (very
slow boot time)

Thank you for your bug. The issue is due to the libflashplugin installed
in your user directory, that's not a bug, closing
