[Bug 132349] Re: external usb disks no longer mount in gutsy
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 134712 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134712 Hi. I'm having similar problems. After installing Gutsy, My 5'th Gen iPod video will not mount at all. And, I am having a problem with my LaCie external Hard Drive. At first, I could not read or write to it as Gutsy annoyingly made it a Root only permission by default. This was really irritating, but not unfixable. Then, after I changed the permissions so that all users could read/write/delete/change files, it seemed to work fine. Then, the other day when I tried to copy my school assignment to the school folder on my LaCie, it (Gutsy) would not let me. Access Denied; you don't have permissions to write to this folder. When I used Code: gksudo nautilus to try to re-change the permissions as Root, I got; The Owner Could Not Be Changed; Couldn't change the owner of LaCie because it is on a read-only disk. There is no switch or button on the LaCie, that makes it read only. It's a USB external drive. There would be no point in making it read only It Isn't read only. I don't care what Gutsy thinks. I can access it fine on the Macs at school. So at the moment, I am unable to use it on this computer. -- external usb disks no longer mount in gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132349 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-volume-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 159685] screensavers-personal-slideshow should not show hidden directories
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver Last time the screensavers-personal-slideshow ran (a screensaver that shows pictures from ~/Bilder, which is something like ~/Pictures in English), I saw some pictures that I don't really want people to see; This was the first time I became aware of the existence of this screensaver. [Bug 159704] file-roller add a file via drag-and-drop broken in gutsy
Public bug reported: Hi Consider the following scenario works: Archive.zip with files: test1.txt test2.txt lib/test3.txt lib/test4.txt nautilus in directory /home/stuff/ and one file there, test4.txt (note the file name). 1. in file-roller, you are viewing lib/ directory (test3.txt and test4.txt only visible). 2. in nautilus, select from /home/stuff the file test4.txt via single click 3. drag file test4.txt from nautilus to file-roller (normal drag-drop operation). Expected: file-roller updates lib/test4.txt (this works OK in feisty) Actual behaviour: file-roller adds new file test4.txt in root archive directory in gutsy, ignoring that archive is currently in /lib directory. [Bug 39856] Re: Panel in middle of the screen after reboot when not full-sized
Hi, Just upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy and now I have this unfortuntate problem too. I use the bottom panel as a kind of launcher dock. I make it 50 px tall and all I have in it are the launchers for seven progs that I use a lot. I keep it on the bottom and I have expand unchecked, so it's centered. When I log out and log in it's up on top of the screen, just under the real top panel. I can't switch it back to bottom. If I go into properties and try to click bottom, my selection just stays as top. So I expand it - and then it lets me move it down to the bottom. Now I've got it on the bottom but there's space where some icons used to be - Firefox, Thunderbird, Gedit, usually. So I make a new launcher for firefox, for example, and drag it onto the panel - and TWO firefox icons appear. Because the first one didn't really go away, you just couldn't see it after the wonky top-and-bottom behavior happened. I'm on a Panasonic toughbook W4 with 1 Gig Ram. This is a bummer because I'm really enjoying gutsy otherwise. :( -- SeanVT -- Panel in middle of the screen after reboot when not full-sized https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/39856 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 59717] Better font management needed for Ubuntu
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Installing fonts from cd collections is a pain. Individually adding them is TOO slow. Answering all the questions is daunting when you know little about the terms for the fonts. Adding the AFM file should be exactly the same file except swap PFB for AFM. It should be easy to install fonts from a collection. A question to ask is should their be psuedo-debs that can take a particular known cd of fonts and just install them or something like that with all the default values for fonts. Beyond this installing fonts by whole directory should as simple as 'add this directory' with very few questions asked of the user.
