[Bug 27109] Re: nautilus uses 100% cpu after closing a ssh session

2007-11-19 Thread ScrewITfix
Hi
I got the same trouble with Gutsy, but I figured out that, when I Close or
Umount the SSH connections, Nautilus comes down to normal.
It looks like Nautilus tries to keep the SSH connections alive spending 100% of
CPU power. Sad thing is, that I now always need to Reconfigure the connection
to the SSH server.

cheers Claus

[Bug 151544] Re: [Gutsy] GNOME takes too much time to load during system boot

2007-11-19 Thread Mskadu
I am having having exactly the same problem. The boot is swift. However,
I experience delay getting to the login screen. Sometimes it is logging
in (i.e. getting to a Desktop) and sometimes I am able to get a desktop
in about 2-3 mins, but then my desktop freezes. All of this happens in
random order.

I am running a Sony VAIO PCG-K115Z (Intel Mobile Pentium 4, 1 Gig RAM,
Mobility Radeon 9200).

I must also add that I was able to run the previous version of Ubuntu
(v7.04 flawlessly). I have since upgraded, formatted and re-installed

[Bug 163797] eog saves picture incorrectly (corrupts) after rotate

2007-11-19 Thread Ward Back
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

i cannot reproduce it - all i did was rotate a picture and save it. now
the bottom 3/4 of the photo (JPG) is black. however, very serious bug
indeed. i essentially lost a very important wedding photo forever due to
this bug - please take it seriously. i can email the resulting picture
(unless a further step in this bug reporting process can attach a file).
i find it unbelievable to see that a Ubuntu default image viewing
program can have serious bugs such as these. looks like i'm going to
have to get involved.

[Bug 125308] Re: [gutsy] esd makes diverse gnome apps freeze

2007-11-19 Thread Martin Pitt
Seems like the patch didn't help. The real solution for this is to
uninstall esound. Really, it makes life sooo much better, and we do not
install it by default any more either. I actually thought that it gets
uninstalled on upgrades even.

In Hardy we will hopefully replace it with PulseAudio.

[Bug 163720] network-admin doesn't perform hostname data validation

2007-11-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

I was helping a beginner with his Feisty system. I kept getting a
temporary file creation error from gpg regarding some bizarre URL when I
tried to add a repo using apt-key. It took a while before I noticed the
rather obvious problem - his hostname was a URL and gpg uses the
hostname in the file name. I suspect he misunderstood the purpose of
the hostname box in network-admin and entered the URL to his ISP.
Apparently the app doesn't check an entered hostname for blatantly
invalid names like http://hostname.com;.

[Bug 163835] Ctrl-keys does not work in gutsy

2007-11-19 Thread Anders Schau Knatten
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

After upgrading to gutsy, my Ctrl-keys have stopped working in gnome-terminal.
They work just fine in other aplications, like xterm and firefox. Some examples:
Ctrl-d : Nothing happens
Ctrl-s : Same as pressing enter
Ctrl-c : Same as pressing enter
Ctrl-w : A comma appears
etc.

The problem persists in all applications run within gnome-terminal. Examples:
Can not use Ctrl key in vim
Can not use Ctrl+d for logging out after ssh-ing to another box.

Other special characters, like Shift, Esc and AltGr works.

$ uname -a
Linux abel 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 23:05:12 GMT 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

$ gnome-terminal --version
GNOME gnome-terminal 2.18.2

$ echo $LANG $GDM_LANG
en_US.UTF-8 en_US.UTF-8

Please tell me if you need any other information.

[Bug 163404] Mouse forward/back are the wrong way around

2007-11-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: epiphany

I've configured the horizontal scroll of my mouse. In firefox, scrolling
horizontally goes back/forward in history. In epiphany, this works the
same if you press Alt while scrolling (without Alt it means horizontal
scrolling, like in the rest of Gnome).. except that scrolling left means
back in firefox, but forward in epiphany, and the other way around.

I'd like to see this switched around, so it works the same as in firefox
(maybe base on language direction? When reading a left-to-right
language, left means back)

Sebastien,

so what does this mean? Will Ubuntu be able to sync with my iPod ever?
Will the fixes be uploaded to universe? Do I have to revert to windows?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug 147590, so it is being marked as such. Please look at
the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you
can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug.
Additionally any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in
the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may
 find.

There is no plan to upload 0.6.0 to gutsy, it has a new depends to

[Bug 163847] nautilus does not signal an error when remote file has disappeared

2007-11-19 Thread Francesco Potortì
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I open a directory via ssh with Nautilus.
By other means, I remove a file from that directory, without Nautilus ever
knowing.
I drag the deleted file's icon from Nautilus' window to the desktop.
-- nothing happens: the file is not copied, which is unsurprising, as the
file is not there, but Nautilus does not signal any errors.

[Bug 147590] Re: Rythmbox crashes my new iPod Nano 8GB (new Ipod Nano with video support)

2007-11-19 Thread Luis Alberto Pabón
I come from bug #163827. Apparently libgpod 0.6 depends on sgutils that
are in universe and due to the fact that libgpod is on main it is not
possible to upgrade the repository version to the latest. Does the 3G
support itself depend on sgutils, or this is a fix that can be isolated
and backported to libgpod 0.5.2?

2007-11-19 Thread papal
I just noticed that someone else has posted a bug here. I saw a gdm
upgrade came out over the weekend and it didn't fix this. Come on guys,
this is a *critical* bug.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/159477

I guess these our two bug reports should probably be merged.

[Bug 141325] printout from evince blurry

2007-11-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I run Ubuntu Gutsy 32bit.

I create a pdf using LyX + pdflatex. The pdf file displays ok in evince.
When I print it, the text is very blurry, equations are ok. When I open
this pdf file in kpdf, it displays and prints ok. When I compile another
TeX file using pdflatex without LyX in between, it displays and prints
ok using both evince and kpdf.

This all is independent of printer, prints so even to another pdf. The
original lyx file, pdf file and pdf generated by 'Print to file' are
attached.

[Bug 141325] Re: printout from evince blurry

2007-11-19 Thread Benjamin Redelings
Note that this bug does NOT occur on Debian. Debian now has the same
verions as ubuntu:

Ubuntu: evince=2.20.1-0ubuntu1 / libpoppler2=0.6.2-1
Debian: evince=2.20.1-2 / libpoppler2=0.6.2-1

So, either Ubuntu's evince patches have made it impossible to print many
PDFs from evince, or it is a problem with another package... perhaps
libfontconfig1?

Ubuntu = libfontconfig1=2.4.2-1.2ubuntu4
Debian = libfontconfig1=2.5.0-2

[Bug 72468] Re: Trash looks empty, isn't

2007-11-19 Thread Peter Matulis
I had the inverse case: trash icon was displaying properly the
situation (showing full and mouseover provides increasing number of
newly deleted items) but the .Trash directory remained empty.

But upon creating a new user, logging out my current user, and logging
in and out as new user, and then logging in again as old user the
situation reversed itself. I am now seeing the behaviour described in
this bug: items ending up in the .Trash folder but the trash icon shows
empty.

Version affected: Ubuntu 7.04 (feisty fawn)

[Bug 78470] Re: switching to current logged in user freezes gdm

2007-11-19 Thread ananth1984
I confirm this bug too, i get the white screen of death when i logout
from a second account while leaving the first one logged out. I can
login back to the first account by blindly typing the password of the
account.

People here have suggested pressing Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to restart the
GUI Shell, but the alternative i suggest is pressing ALT+S at the white
screen which will reload only the Login screen and thus you will not
lose any work from the account which is locked.

Cheers!

[Bug 163870] Move to folder dialog hard to navigate by keyboard

2007-11-19 Thread James Westby
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Hi,

When bringing up the Move to folder dialog on a message using shift+ctrl+v
the first entry is 'half-selected' (with the dotted outline, rather than the
highlight).
It is very hard to change this to select another folder with the keyboard. Up
and down
keys do nothing. The best remedy I currently have is to pgdown a couple of
times,
and then I can use up and down to select the desired folder.

It would be great if up and down would work straight away.

Thanks,

James
