Actually looking more into this along with the gnome bug that is linked too. This is an issue with Gstreamer and no app using Gstreamer can use AC3 Passthrough currently, and it has yet to be fixed. Pedro, It certainly is a continuing problem. I will have a look at what is involved in installing the Evolution version from Hardy and report back on the forum. It surprises me that the problem is not causing more widespread consternation. That makes me think it has something to do with the specifics of how I move data across from a PC running Feisty. A workaround is to use the xine backend. So you install totem-xine from apt and launch totem-xine . This is totem using xine for the backend. I just tested it and AC3 passes fine now. I just discovered that the problem does not exist if I doubleclick an *.htm file in nautilus and click view. Those files get opened correctly in the last active Firefox window and that stays on it's current workspace. The bug tracker is not an user forum to discuss whatever is wrong on your configuration. I'm reading the comments there because I'm working on this package and I'll make sure the issue is fixed for hardy. The bug is marked as triaged and has been sent upstream which means there is no need for other informations there, the goal of the bug tracker is to describe technical issues and get enough informations to work on those so maintainers can fix the bugs, not to have users discussed whatever is not working. There has been 8 comments added there since the bug has been set to triaged with the upstream url, which means 8 mails have been sent to people who receive already some thousand of those a week, there is no need for that, that's only making the job harder. Now if you find other issue and want to share those that's good, look at the bug list to know if there is already a bug about that and open a new one if there is none yet.
