[Bug 189777] Re: gnome-panel freezes during keyring password entry
I don't think it's a bug in gnome-panel anymore, but in gnome-keyring, because of the following. I managed to reproduce it by being connected at reboot via ethernet, then removing the ethernet cable so that the password prompt window appeared. At this point I tried to attach gdb, but I could not send keyboard input to an open console when I selected it - all keyboard input went to the gnome-keyring window, no matter where the mouse pointer was or what I clicked on. Oddly, the mouse clicks seemed to work - perhaps this is why the gnome-panel menu title indicates it is selected (eg the 'Places' text will go into reverse text when you click on it, but no menu actually appears). This was in Gutsy (although with kernel 2.6.24-8) with these versions of gnome-keyring: ii gnome-keyring 2.20-0ubuntu4 GNOME keyring services (daemon and tools) ii gnome-keyring-manager 2.20.0-0ubuntu2 keyring management program for the GNOME des ii libgnome-keyring0 2.20-0ubuntu4 GNOME keyring services library ii libpam-gnome-keyring 2.20-0ubuntu4 GNOME keyring services PAM module -- gnome-panel freezes during keyring password entry https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189777 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

This is known upstream: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452637 fwiw, I strongly suspect that this relates to the regexp used to match email addresses, but I can't at all figure out why, so perhaps it is a bug in the VTE code that checks the displayed text for regexp matches. -- bizarre extra matching of TLD on mailto: URLs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/161116 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Here is how to reproduce the problem with France and USA layouts: - Add France/default variant and USA/default variant layouts - Select France as default - Launch gnome-terminal and see that Ctrl+Shift+A and Ctrl+Shift+Q both close the terminal, while only Ctrl+Shift+Q should do it. Note that A and Q are inversed in France and USA layouts. Same with Z and W, Ctrl+Shift+W being used for closing a tab. [Bug 193719] Re: evolution-data-server-2.22 crashed with signal 5
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 131743] Re: liferea-add-feed does nothing in firefox
I've seen this problem on both ubuntu and now debian. This is what I get on debian: $ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/iceweasel:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH $ strace log /usr/lib/iceweasel/firefox-bin (Here, I go to a site witha feed, click the rss icon, click the checkbox to always subscribe to feeds using liferea-add-feeds, and then click subscribe. [Bug 193186] Re: [hardy] Evolution doesn't seem to be fully installed
I do remember that, at least at one point in the hardy buildup, I did get an E-D-S upgrade to propose Evo removal (new E-D-S had already been put available in the repositories, but not the corresponding Evo). During Hardy development, the KDE4 updates would every so often cause this. Every so often I get this type of upgrade behaviour during new releases build-time (and also on Debian -- duh --). So, you are not alone (and I guess a lot of others have also seen/got hit by this). So yes, this is interesting, but mostly to highlight the dangers of running Alpha code: it can be very dangerous to run a blind dist-upgrade. What I do to survive in the bleeding edge: 1. I never run 'apt-get dist-upgrade' and then say 'Y' to the changes without checking what is being removed. Every time I am using a box that is running the bleeding edge, I *never* run 'apt-get dist-upgrade'. Instead... 2. I usually run Synaptic, click on Mark all updates, then analyse what Synaptic tells me -- and every so often I cancel *all* changes, and go hunting for the, huh, bad, update(s), until I reach the one(s) that propose to remove what I want to keep -- then I unmark the change(s), and keep on. I guess once burned... This process can be quite time-consuming if you dist-upgrade every few weeks (a lot of changes to check on worst scenario)... but you will not lose a loved piece of your system :-) 3. Still on Synaptic, after I have have /selected/reviewed all changes I want, I go to Apply, and -- again -- I check the proposed changes, with special attention on the removal list (usually, if the to be removed list header is not bold, then I just go ahead and commit). Otherwise I again check what will be removed. I guess, sigh, twice burned, etc, etc. In fact, while I was typing this response, I went into Synaptic and ran an update/mark all changes (so that I could get the actual headers), and found one library being removed. I cancelled all changes, searched for the culprits, and found that the update proposing the library removal was doing so because it was also requesting a new package version of the library to be installed. So... this is, I guess, it. Please tell me if you consider my answer satisfactory (or go ahead and close this bug, if this is the case). -- [hardy] Evolution doesn't seem to be fully installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/193186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 131743] Re: liferea-add-feed does nothing in firefox
Hmm. I thought it might not be executing scripts that need shebang line interpretation, but having just compiled a simple c program that prints its args, and temporarily replaced /usr/bin/liferea-add-feed with it, I see that this doesn't get called either. iceweasel/firefox seem to be very broken. I logged in over ssh and I could not even start nautilus for her (export DISPLAY=:0; nautilus --no-desktop), nothing happened, but I then restarted dbus (sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart) and then MANY windows (all the folders she tried to open before and some logout-screens) appeared and I got disconnected (WLAN). She has all security updates installed and the first time it happend was probably monday or tuesday. HTH, regards johannes PS: Ahh, in her $HOME, there was a 273MiB!! file called .nautilus-debug.log or so... This is the response I added back on 01-11-2008 ... I am unsure why it did not stick here. (it was sent back via email to the person who sent me the followup question) --- By freeze, I mean the import process appears to freeze and all functionality is lost. It is not really frozen, just moving extremely slowly. The best way to describe it is if the machine has run out of physical memory and temporary HD swap space and it is fighting to swap around memory to continue on with the process. During the import process, when it reaches 3000 songs and it is moving slowly, if I remove the songs that were already imported, all functionality returns and it continues to pull in the songs that it had not imported yet. --- -- Importing 3000+ songs from windows network folder https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/179282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
