[Bug 214440] [NEW] Brightness only works using manual controls
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager I can control display brightness using the keyboard but the settings in Power Manager preferences, seem to be ignored. For example, when I unplug the AC power, the screen dims, but when I plug it back in again, the screen notifier shows the brightness increasing to about 90% (it is set to be 100% on AC power) but in fact the screen remains dimmed and does not actually increase. If I unplug the AC power again, the display brightness decreases and so on until after unplugging the AC power four times, the display brightness is at its lowest level and plugging in AC power makes no difference to the actual brightness. I can rectify this by using the FN-F11 keys. I'm running the latest Hardy updates on a Lenovo 3000 N100. I've attached some logs. This is not a recent problem but started occurring a few weeks ago. [Bug 182038] Re: Black rectangle instead of image in FF3 [Hardy]
Thanks Stephen. I just checked and it isn't fixed for me any more either. I made a new profile and visited the default mozilla.org first run page, and zoomed in. The image was incorrectly positioned, as before. I also see the bug in the cartoon you linked to. Different zoom levels offset the cartoon differently, and one of the zoom levels actually displays it correctly. I don't know if it's important, but I wasn't seeing this bug at all in gutsy, with the mozilla.org firefox nightly. Then, as soon as I switched to hardy it started happening, without changing the firefox nightly installation at all. -- Black rectangle instead of image in FF3 [Hardy] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182038 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to epiphany-browser in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 214534] [NEW] evince doesn't remember print setup options
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Every time I print a document, I need to change the paper size in the page setup dialog. I use A4 paper, but by default it use US letter paper. Ideally, I shouldn't even have to set this manually, and that setting should be guessed from the fact I told during the OS installation that I live in Belgium/Europe. But I could live with a bad default value. What is really annoying is that I have to change it every time I print: the paper size is not remembered across documents, even though the format for: any printer suggests it should. PS: The system might be confused by the fact that I use Ubuntu in English, even though I live in Belgium. [Bug 214502] Re: World Cock Applet 'find' location feature only shows a few locations
I had rebooted as I upgraded yesterday and I shut down last night however I hadn't rebooted since I installed todays updates (It ran a 'partial upgrade' when i booted up this morning). I've just tried rebooting now and sure enough i now have the full database of locations. Not sure what happened during the upgrade yesterday as everything seemed to go smoothly and I used Hardy for a couple of horus fine before shutting down for the night. Thanks for your help in resolving the matter. I think there is a bug in there somewhere but now it seems like it's with the upgrade process rather the gnome-panel or world clock applet. [Bug 214076] Re: .pdf fails to open: Unhandled MIME type: application/x-ole-storage
Further investigation reveals that the person sending the files to me somehow managed to send me 5 copies of the same doc file. The pdf turned out to also be a word doc file. So the bug is a red-herring. If anything out of this could be called as a bug, it would be that evince was willing to process the file as a pdf purely on the strength of the .pdf filename extension. I had assumed that evince would perform some form of basic file header or format verification. Anyhow, sorry for the distraction Scott. -- .pdf fails to open: Unhandled MIME type: application/x-ole-storage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214076 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
