[Bug 221118] Re: Connected servers forgotten in next session (Hardy)
It is a bug indeed (as long as design can have bugs too). It is possible to add a bookmark, of course. So when you use your bookmark you get there, the FTP place is mounted, and you get another bookmark in your places list. For the rest of your session you get two bookmarks differently named pointing to the same place. This is definitely a bug. Also, having the mounted FTP site in the desktop is not desirable for many. This should be optional behaviour. If you consider the mounted FTP site a volume, then use a disk icon for it. For consistency sake. Otherwise it just look like some folder has appeared in my desktop and I can't get rid of it, which is frankly annoying. -- Connected servers forgotten in next session (Hardy) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221118 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 137239] Re: compiz and metacity should behave the same way
I think the trouble is that Metacity is not tunable enough to do this by design: Metacity is supposed to be a small, simple window manager without a whole lot of options and bells and whistles. Of course we could patch it at the Ubuntu level to behave differently, or to be more tunable, and we could consider some kind of standard about how basic and very common actions work (although I'm not sure that middle click on maximise button counts as basic and very common) at, say, the freedesktop level, although currently that role is mostly filled quite reasonably by consensus. If you've found a place where that consensus falls down, such as here, I think it's not unreasonable to ask Metacity or Compiz to change their default behaviour when you middle-click the maximise button as a specific bug (at least at the Ubuntu level; since this has quite recently been the subject of a slightly heated discussion upstream, I doubt the upstream maintainers would upset the boat by changing the behaviour again now.) -- compiz and metacity should behave the same way https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137239 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

For those of you that get hit quite frequently: Go to System/Preferences/Sessions; select the Current Session tab, and edit the evolution-alarm-notify entry so that it will have a higher order. The default installs will have it with Order=50; Setting it to 60 is enough. After changing the Order, select Apply. There might be more than one e-a-n entry, edit all of them as shown. [Bug 222643] [NEW] Mounting removable media causes Nautilus to launch on all desktops when more than one user is logged in
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gvfs If I have multiple users logged in to my machine at any one time (using fast-user-switch) - when I plug in a USB drive (or any removable device) or insert a CD, Nautilus opens a window on the desktop of every user logged in. If I unmount and remount the removable device several times (or eject and insert multiple CD's), I get one Nautilus window per mount/unmount (or per CD) appear on all the inactive users desktops. Unfortunately, because I run the NVIDIA binary drivers, all the Nautilus windows which appear on the inactive users desktop appear white, which can make the desktop virtually unusable when that user switches back to themselves again. Nautilus should only open a window on the active session. Steps to reproduce: 1) Log in user A 2) Using fast-user-switch, switch to user B 3) User B inserts a USB pen drive or CD. Nautilus appears. 4) Using fast-user-switch, switch back to user A - there is also a Nautilus window on user A's desktop (or, in my case - a white box) [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 8.04 Release:8.04 ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Mounting removable media causes Nautilus to launch on all desktops when more than one user is logged in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222643 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 222656] [NEW] [hardy] nautilus displays nothing on an ftp server which has iso8859-15 encoding
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I try to connect to a ftp server where locale is iso8859-15 (french). The server answer with emphasized characters and nothing is displayed in nautilus. If you try using ftp command, it show something (even if there is ? instead of emphasized characters. I haven't tried with gutsy so I don't know if it was working before gvfs. [Bug 25931] Fix not working.
Hi everybody, upgraded from Gutsy to Hardy. If I set concurrency to shell, I still get that error message. Reverting concurrency back to none is a workaround, but not a solution for me. I assume my symlinks are the Hardy default ones: ~$ ls -1 /etc/rc?.d/*dbus /etc/rc1.d/K88dbus /etc/rc2.d/S12dbus /etc/rc3.d/S12dbus /etc/rc4.d/S12dbus /etc/rc5.d/S12dbus So, contrary to Bruce's experience, the final Hardy release did not solve this problem.
