[Bug 190818] Re: rhythmbox adding songs to ipod no sound
Ah so I just followed a chain of bugs to get myself a pretty good workaround. This bug seems only to happen for AAC encoding. Switch over to MP3. This was problematic for me because I couldn't get CD Quality, MP3 to appear in the dropdown list under Edit - Preferences - Music - Preferred Format. You need to have Ubuntu packages BOTH liblame0 and gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse installed. [Bug 224186] Re: detection of xrandr clone mode is wrong for single screens
yes i'm referring for before as official release package status and now as after installing the package listed in proposed repository. Exactly there is no second rectangle listed. The setup is done trough the xorg.conf configuration in order to have two separate xscreens. After some additional tests i noticed that if i launch gnome-display-properties on the second monitor it can manage the second monitor but not the first one... maybe it's just a side effect of my setup? anyway the status before was worse (as detecting two screens as clone when one is right of the other is plainly wrong) so it's an improvement anyway... -- detection of xrandr clone mode is wrong for single screens https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/224186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 220654] Re: file-roller will not open 256 AES zip files
File-roller should open these files, hence it is a file-roller problem in my opinion. File-roller is a frontend to these various other utilities so I do not see why it can't be changed to use 7z instead of unzip, seeing as it uses 7z anyway for 7z files. This would solve the problem. 256 AES zips are being increasingly used in a corporate environment including mine, so I feel this issue is important. As unzip hasn't been updated since 2005 (according to the changelog) it looks like this facility will not be included anytime soon, so an alternative approach needs to be taken. -- file-roller will not open 256 AES zip files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220654 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 224850] [NEW] Gnome Quit Menu Fails to Highlight Selections When Crux is the Controls Theme
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This is a minor but annoying cosmetic bug in Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy that occurs when Crux is the selected theme for System Preferences Appearance Theme (tab) Customize (menu buttion) Controls (tab). System Quit..., the top right-hand button on the default gnome menubar, or pressing ctrl + alt + Delete displays a menu that allows one to Log out, Lock Screen, Switch User, Suspend, Hibernate, Restart, or Shutdown. Under the previously mentioned configuration, the Cancel menu item is highlighted as expected. However, if the users uses the arrow keys to select an item, nothing will be highlighted unless he/she returns to Cancel. The description displayed within the menu is the only way to identify the option currently selected via keyboard. Related symptoms: 1) If I do the same from a Konqueror window, or if I start Kdvi from a terminal, or from the Applications menu, then it works 2) the same bug occurs to the application Kview 3) it doesn't happen with Kpdf (so this one works fine) . that's the new design and not a bug, gvfs does actual mounting which allow all the applications to use the mounts where gnome-vfs was only using links to the location, you should bookmark the locations you usually want to use. there is already several bugs discussing the possibility to not display the mount icons on the desktop if the user doesn't want those, closing this bug ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- Places Connect to Servers drops connection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223227 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 224966] Re: segfault in Xorg, gdm, compiz on scroll with firefox/webmail
In previous message, John Vivirito suggests crash report is invalid without /var/crash files or automatic apport report, and sets bug to Invalid. I agree with John that automatic mechanisms for reporting bugs are preferable, since users can never really know what a developer needs to locate the problem. However, apport does not deploy to do anything in this situation. There were no /var/crash files generated. apport 0.108 is part of Hardy and is installed. As documented, apport is a gui application that runs under X and asks, when an application abort, if the user if they want to file an automatic crash reports. If X is dead, apport, which would ordinarily pop up a dialog to ask the user what to do (send report, or restart program) is probably killed with all the user processes that rely on the X server connection to continue. If the X server is dead, there is no way for apport to pop up its dialog boxes. So far, the only application I have used that dies when scrolling is firefox. So this doesnt seem to be isolated to Xorg or compiz, though they are implicated in the /var/log/messages log. I would think the report of this bug from two different sources would elevate it to Confirmed, but perhaps in the rush to clear reports this aspect of the problem went unnoticed. Clearing the report as Invalid seems a bit premature, I have put it back to new. I would be willing to cooperate further, if it can help. A link has been provided that crashes X reliably for me when firefox is used to view it on Ubuntu 8. Does this link crash your X as well, John? ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- segfault in Xorg, gdm, compiz on scroll with firefox/webmail https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/224966 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 224966] Re: segfault in Xorg, gdm, compiz on scroll with firefox/webmail
No i am unable to reproduce this bug in firefox-3b5 nor firefox-2.0. most likely if X crashed it caused crash for firefox. Now if you ca get a backtrace of the issue than we will leave this open if it shows anything but without a verbose backtrace this is gonna be just about impossible to do anything with. I seem to feel it was not a crash if apport didnt send log to /var/crash. If you crash X anything you had running is going to report a crash when you log back in they are caused by the original crash and firefox nor gdm will cause X to crash it would be the other way around. Marking as incomplete until we get the back traces needed. To backtrace please follow instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs Please dont set the status back to new alway set it back to incomplete since i have asked for information. -- segfault in Xorg, gdm, compiz on scroll with firefox/webmail https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/224966 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
