[Bug 16472] Re: Login Screen Resolution

2008-05-05 Thread edam
@Big_Rog, I'm suffereing from the exact same problem you're describing.
I have the same Failsafe sections in xorg.conf and the login screen
resolution is larger than will fit on the screen.

Would you mind elabourating on how you fixed the issue? What do you mean
exactly when you say you replaced the Failsafe sections?

For the devs: This issue appeared when upgrading from 7.10 to 8.04 and
although I'm now using the respos. nVidia drivers, I have previously
used drivers from the nVidia site.

[Bug 226744] Re: nautilus segfaults when attempting to view sftp mapped directory

2008-05-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit. You might need to enable apport in /etc/defaults/apport and
restart to get the crash registered
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

2008-05-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Whenever I want to play a cd (origals) , I only get a very distorted sound.
I was able to play CD's untill a few weeks ago.

I am able to play sound which is on my harddisk or from an
internetstream and play video from the cdrom.

Steps to reproduce:
-

1) Insert an audio CD in the CD-Rom,
2) automatically sound juicer starts,
3) either rip or play directly and you get distorted sound.

* No error messages are thrown
* The sound files are distorted with every program.

[Bug 204775] Re: selecting gnome panel intlclock causes top bar and many other things to not respond

2008-05-05 Thread Martin Pitt
Evgeny: We only put approved stuff into hardy-proposed, i. e. packages
which are actually meant to reach -updates after 7 days. But we can
never rule out miscompilations or other unforeseen complications, that's
why we have -proposed.

You should not generally enable it on all production systems out there,
but it greatly helps to have one or two systems running with -proposed
to report possible problems early and confirm bug fixes.

In this particular case, the package is in hardy-updates now, so you can
test it there.

When I connected the network by 82573L, the network monitor applet reported two
drivers (eth0 and lo ) and worked well.
After I switch the connection to wireless network, the network monitor applet

I also have the same problem. I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 to my home-PC

and the weather-data works perfectly. However, I upgraded my workplace
PC from 7.10 to 8.04 and the time-date applet does not show the weather
data. Location is set correctly. If I expand the applet, the weather is
shown normally. I also noticed that if check/uncheck Show weather and
Show temperature check-boxes on Preferences menu, the date-time
display moves to right (when checking) or to left (when unchecking).

[Bug 106621] Re: Gnome Trash doesn't show deleted files on ntfs-3g partitions

2008-05-05 Thread Szabolcs Szakacsits
Could someone modify the ntfs-3g package so that the hack is directly
implemented when the fstab is written?

Sadly we can not do anything in NTFS-3G because, as it was earlier
explained and patches submitted, this is not an NTFS-3G bug but a Gnome
one. When it's possible we always workaround in bugs in applications but
I'm sorry to say, we can't do it this time.

We also think it's fairly unfortunate how Gnome works because it's not the
behavior many Ubuntu users expect and they do keep losing files because
of this.

Regards, Szaka

[Bug 226815] [NEW] Failed to execute gpg: Broken pipe when email is not in the PGP keyring

2008-05-05 Thread Andrea Grandi
Public bug reported:

Hi,

if you try to send an email with Evolution, encrypting it with PGP and
the recipient is not in the PGP Keyring you get this error message:

Could not create message.
Because Failed to execute gpg: Broken pipe, you may need to select different
mail options.

How to reproduce this:

1) for example you have the PGP public key of your friend Pippo [EMAIL
PROTECTED] in your keyring.
2) you write a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and select Encrypt
3) at this point Evolution doesn't ask you to select a public key from your
keyring, it simply refuses to encrypt it and gives you this error.

2008-05-05 Thread Martin Pitt
Martin, indeed nautilus in hardy should drop the camera program chooser,
since nautilus' handling of cameras is known broken.

In hardy, it is really gnome-volume-manager which should do the camera
handling. Please do

  killall gnome-volume-manager
  /usr/lib/gnome-volume-manager/gnome-volume-manager -n 21 | tee /tmp/gvm.log

then plug in your camera. Press Control-C, run /usr/lib/gnome-volume-

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

New stable version for hardy

The corresponding NEWS

Version 2.22.1.3

  Clock Applet

* Fix internal handling of locations to not create new locations all
the time. As a side-effect, this fixes the location not being
recognized as the current one when the user clicks Set (Vincent)
* Improve pre-filling of the find entry (Vincent)
* Be more solid against cases where there's no Locations.xml (Vincent)
* Better handling of some special cases when detecting the system
  timezone (like /usr/share/zoneinfo/posix/Europe/Paris) (Vincent)
* Fix memory leaks (Vincent)
* First look if /etc/localtime is a symbolic link when detecting the
current timezone instead of first parsing a few files (Vincent)
* Add support for Arch Linux system timezone (Vincent)
* Fix a crash in the system timezone reading/writing code on 64-bits
  machines (Vincent)

  Misc

* Add new keys to gnome-panel.desktop to also make it work with

[Bug 226827] [NEW] Two single clicks accepted as double-click

2008-05-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Several apps accept two single clicks as a double-click.
(I take a double-click to mean two clicks on the same object within a
certain--short--time.)

Examples:
1. Nautilus: Open a window in list view, click on a file (or folder) and
quickly click on the file above it. (You need to be rather quick to do this
within the double-click interval. You can increase this interval in System -
Preferences - Mouse.) This opens the second file.

2. Compiz Expo applet: Hit Super-E to activate the Expo applet. Click on
a workspace and quickly click on an adjacent workspace. (You don't have
to be quite as quick for this one, as the default double-click interval
for the Expo applet is longer.) This activates the second workspace and
quits the applet.

In both cases, the first click is accepted as a single click (the file
or workspace is selected), the second click is accepted as a double-
click on the second object (the file is opened, the workspace becomes
active). This is not the expected result, as a double-click should only
be registered when two clicks occur on the *same* object within the
double-click interval.

This might be a GNOME bug. If anyone could test this on KDE, that would
be great!

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS hardy heron (updated from 7.10 gutsy
gibbon).

message: See attachment here

- In English sounds like:
+ In English is:
  Unable to mount location
- Unable to mount file
+ Can't mount file

but this doesn't prevent mounting itself because floppy is mounted correctly
(just wait some seconds) although it doesn't open any folder.
If I unmount and mount it again during the same gnome session no problem at
all. (Apart from Bug #206860 and double folder opening bug)

The error message come up every FIRST mounting time of every session.

[Bug 223922] [NEW] gnome-vfs hardcodes to firefox

This appears to have been added in 1:2.20.1-1ubuntu1. This shouldn't be
