[Bug 233918] [NEW] [vinagre] Keybinding changes don't persist across sessions

2008-05-22 Thread Scott Severance
Public bug reported:

Vinagre uses F11 as the fullscreen shortcut. However, since F11 is a
shortcut that I use frequently in my VNC sessions, I've remapped
fullscreen to F8. Unfortunately, the change doesn't persist across
sessions.

happening with .mpg videos for me. I have included my own debug txt like

Re: [Bug 206439] Re: smb password protected share cannot be accessed

2008-05-22 Thread SteveGotthardt
How to reproduce:
I have a share setup as follows:

[devel]
comment = Development files.
path = /massive/devel
public = yes
printable = no
guest ok = yes
write list = steve
browsable = yes

I no longer get asked for credentials (hardy 8.04) when I browse to the
directory. In previous (7.10) I would use [EMAIL PROTECTED]/devel and it
would allow me to write. It seems the write list is ignored...

[Bug 232485] Re: Vinagre impossible to uses de F1 and F9 keys o the remote computer

2008-05-22 Thread Scott Severance
Probably the best thing would be to use a popup like vncviewer; in
vncviewer, hitting F8 pops up a menu with the various settings,
including an option to send F8. Furthermore, F8 is vncviewer's *only*
keyboard shortcut, AFAIK.

A VNC client is a bit like a terminal app. Its job is to stay out of
your way so you can forget it exists. Just like gnome-terminal needs no
chrome (no menubar, no scrollbar, no statusbar, etc.), a VNC viewer
should have the bare minimum chrome (except for an F8 menu or equivalent
and a way to connect) so that it stays out of the way.

Re: [Bug 207072] Re: nautilus does not display samba shares for machines inside an ADS network.

2008-05-22 Thread thanos
Hi

Seems to me that you're referring to another bug. What I've observed is that
the Network is working but not predictably. For example, if you login
and go to nautilus - network, it is empty. If you leave things as they are
for 5-10 minutes, then try again, there are some things appearing. I dont
browse the network, I usually map the drives directly with smbfs. However, I
did notice this behavior so maybe you should watch out for it - leave it as
it is for 5-10 minutes, then open Nautilus - Network again

Maybe it is dependent on the number of machines on the network? For us it is
more than 200...

On Thu, May 22, 2008 at 2:47 AM, obscure_detour [EMAIL PROTECTED]
wrote:

Well it fixed it for the most part. Thank you thanos for uploading the
patched file. I am able to access all my shares using nautilus.
However, I still have to type in the share path.

Simply browse to Network and then to Windows Network it just thinks
and errors out with; Cannot open smb:/// or if you actually do get it
to browse into Windows Network and click on the domain, it errors out
with; There is not a known application for this file type. Nautilus
also errors out if I type in smb://.

If I simply type smb://host/sharename host being either the hostname
or the ip address and sharename it works perfectly. Just like Gusty :)
Nautilus asks me for auth, and off we go.

 Thanks again.

[Bug 233868] Re: sound juicer crashes after copying jello biafra's become the media cd (disc 1)

2008-05-22 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 191889] Re: [MASTER] Ubuntu's new Offline Mode feature cannot properly detect when there is a valid network available for use in many circumstances

2008-05-22 Thread Simone Tolotti
Do not use asac's ppa nm-0.7 packages!!!
They works even worse than 0.6.6 and removing them is not easy (at least for a
newbie).
Probably packages are very old (20080121) and they really needs to be updated!
Foresight : NetworkManager=0.7.0.r3332-0.1-1
Fedora9 : NetworkManager-0.7.0-0.9.3.svn3623
I've tried both Foresight 2.0 an Fedora9 and NM works great and out-of-the-box
for me.
I know that we'll have the same features in Intrepid, but I hope that in the
meantime someone will provide working backport/ppa packages. Thanks!

[Bug 135548] Re: [Gutsy] Action on critical battery isn't triggered - regression

2008-05-22 Thread Roberto Scelzo
Everything always worked for me (after some charge/discharge cycles
enough to create a battery profile...) but, after i've enabled laptop-
mode-tools something changed: I get some notifications about my battery
discharge but, after I get the critical warning notification the system
simply doesn't hibernate and when the battery is empty the system powers
off :-(

I tried several solutions but now I'm starting to think that something
goes weird when one has laptop-mode-tools running together with
g-p-m...

Should I tell laptop-mode-tools to manage the critical battery level event?
And, if I enable the above in laptop-mode-tools, will the hibernate when lid
closed event work?

Icons are ok, but icon's colors are wrong, as if there were applied a

should be the usual red firefox color icon. Here it's blue. But I think
it is just a symptom, as the whole gnome-system-monitor has serious
refresh problems too.

[Bug 233865] Re: Nautilus crash when attempting to duplicate a folder

2008-05-22 Thread barichardson5727
I have been having similar problems after updating nautilus to version
1:2.22.2-0ubuntu6. Copying folders is causing nautilus to go non-
responsive. If you kill the process it will respawn a new window to of
your home directory, the new instance of nautilus that gets created is
usually non-responsive upon being created. I have confirmed this problem
did not exist with nautilus version 1:2.22.2-0ubuntu5 on the same
machine. Also, my system is not using spanish locale so I don't believe
this to be a translation issue.

[Bug 187127] Re: ssh always asks to unlock private key with no password set

2008-05-22 Thread Martin von Wittich
My SSH key does have a password but nonetheless I dislike this window,
because it interrupts my usual routine:

$ ssh somehost
ssh asks me for my passphrase, I realise that I haven't added the key to the
ssh-agent yet. I press STRG+C...
$ ssh-add
I enter my passphrase into the agent
$ ssh somehost
ssh gets the key from the agent

I also noticed that it seems rather random whether the dialog gets the
focus; sometimes the focus just remains on the terminal window,
potentially leading users to typing their passphrases in plain text into
the terminal window. For me it means that hitting ESC will do nothing,
and I have to use the mouse to close the window. That is just plain
wrong: I'm forced to use the mouse to close a graphical dialog that pops
up while I'm working in the terminal.

I think the possibility to store the passphrase in seahorse is generally
a nice feature, but it should not pop up a graphical window in the
terminal.

[Bug 146480] Re: Shutdown interface slow to load

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 123078 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123078

I haven't had this problem before Hardy, but it's not very obvious in Hardy.
It's also about 1 minute for me. I have it on both my laptop and my desktop PC,
both upgraded from Gutsy.

Most significantly, it doesn't show the Suspend or Hibernate buttons at first
(after that 1 minute wait), but canceling and doing it again shows the dialog
very quickly and then shows Suspend and Hibernate. I think this must be a big
clue.

[Bug 194552] Re: [Hardy] GDM starts with wrong display resolution

2008-05-22 Thread Jakub
I have a similar problem. I'm using external monitor (native res.
1280x1024) connected via DVI to my laptop (native res. 1280x800).

When I start GDM and login to the X without external monitor connected,
everything is ok (both screens have their native resolution).
When I start GDM, when the external monitor is plugged in, GDM detects wrong
resolution (1152x864) and when I log to the X, the resolution is still 1152x864.

xrandr -q detects my external monitor correctly, but sets the resolution to
1152x864 instead of 1280x1024.
Running xrandr --output TMDS-1 --fb 1280x1024 doesn't help. The same goes for
setting virtual 1600 1200 in xorg.conf.

The only workaround I found is to unplug the external monitor before GDM
starts and plug in the monitor after I log in to the X.

I don't use dual screen, laptop lid is closed when I use external
monitor.

Any ideas how to fix this? Should I provide some more information (like
xrandr -q or xorg.conf listing)?

No messages are appearing in my inbox (including over 20 unread messages
- I'm using POP) and I do not have a windows computer so I cannot solve
my problem the was fgossart did...

Is there any way of making the available space bigger? or any other
solution to this problem not involving windows?

Thanks for your help in advance

[Bug 233941] [NEW] [Hardy-proposed] update-manager failed to update to gdm 2.20.6-0ubuntu2

2008-05-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have all hardy-proposed updates installed en when I found the gdm update in
the update list I tried to update to it using update-manager. However, it hangs
while trying to install/download it (I'm not sure which).
Using synaptic (which I had to start using sudo synaptic btw because the gui
methods fail atm) I was able to install it.

[Bug 233993] [NEW] `Inbox': Value too large for defined data type

2008-05-22 Thread nils
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

While opening evolution today I had 20+ unread e-mail and I clicked on
one and it said (as I can remember, I did not screen shot) cannot
display the content of this message because inbox is full

I thought there was a bug so I shut evolution down and restarted. Then
my inbox was completely empty (but not my sub folders strangely)... when
I right click on inbox and click properties it says the following:

Error while Opening folder mbox:/home/nils/.evolution/mail/local#Inbox.
Cannot get folder `Inbox': Value too large for defined data type

Since, I have tried to delete old e-mails to make space but it is not
doing anything.

I saw a bug report Bug #197290 in evolution (Ubuntu) but it only
offers a solution with installing evolution on windows... and I do not
have a windows machine so would really like to solve the problem in
another way.

Can anyone help??

Thanks in advance!
