[Bug 235954] [NEW] Yelp crashes regularly or keeps loading indefinitely.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: yelp Yelp crashes regularly or keeps loading indefinitely. I managed to identify three reproducible crashes. It is possible that these crashes are due to bad links in the documentation since unlike the other links, the ones which cause crashes seem to be of the form file:// Link examples: == 1)Non-working links: Learning how to program link: file:/usr/share/gnome/help/programming/C/programming.xml#_auto-gen-id-1 Note: Running it from command-line works: $yelp file:/usr/share/gnome/help/programming/C/programming.xml#_auto-gen-id-1 2)Working link, but causes double free or corruption crash if clicked after copying link address: Advanced topics link: file:///usr/share/gnome/help/advanced-topics/C/advanced-topics.xml 3)Working link example: Writing your own programs link: ghelp:programming Crash #1: = 1)Start yelp: $yelp 2)Click on advanced topics 3)Click on Writing your own programs 4)Click on Learning how to program Now it keeps loading... indefinitely for me. 5)Click on Learning how to program again (or any other link actually, even the home button), while it is still loading. That's where it crashes for me with the following message: ** ** Yelp:ERROR:(yelp-document.c:275):yelp_document_cancel_page: assertion failed: (document != NULL YELP_IS_DOCUMENT (document)) Aborted Crash #2: = 1)Start yelp: $yelp 2)Click on advanced topics 3)Click on Writing your own programs 4)Right-click on Learning how to program and select copy link address 5)Click on Learning how to program again (left or right) That's where it crashes with the following message: *** glibc detected *** yelp: double free or corruption (!prev): 0x09a29080 *** I attached the full backtrace in backtrace_crash2.log. [Bug 235965] [NEW] Text output in gnome-terminal causes OpenGL hickups
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal Running OpenGL applications from gnome-terminal causes the OpenGL app to 'hickup' every few seconds (as in it stalls, window is not updated for a about a second, then it resumes). [Bug 160311] Re: Window Resize Difficult (Window Border Thickness)
I absolutely hate this bug. I would also note that the most problematic are the top cornersas area above window icon and control box with maximize, minimize and close button cannot be used for resizing. And I would also note that the window control menu (the one you get when you press Alt+Space) is broken for move and resize options. Problem with Move - this menu is great to be used as a keyboard option for moving windows, right? When coding, I use mouse very little and use this to move windows instead. But, when I am finished moving the window, the mouse cursor is left right in the middle of the window, so I have to grab the mouse anyway and move the pointer away so it does not get in my way. Problem with Resize - sometimes it works, but mostly it does pretty funky stuff. I noticed that it has biggest problems when the window is partially behind the corner. I mean on another desktop. [Bug 224360] Re: Compiz/Nautilus Freeze on Icon Drag
Confirmed here with nvidia quadro NVS 140 on hardy amd64 in a Thinkpad T61, using current hardy kernel and drivers (as of 30th May 2008). The freeze is also causing display corruption in the destination nautilus window here, and maxs out the CPU load. I can unlock the freeze by switching to a console and back to x with ctrl+alt+F1 and ctrl+alt+F7, although the first switch takes some time to happen. I don't see the dmesg output reported above. [Bug 236055] [NEW] Wishlist: Using Nautilus with gphoto2 with gphoto2://
Public bug reported: as described here (http://library.gnome.org/misc/release- notes/2.22/index.html.en), it's possible to use nautilus to download photos from a digitalcamera which isn't a mass storage device (the camera use PTP; it's an canon ixus 80). [Bug 234532] Re: gvfs-sftp: openoffice can't open or save files
This is how the problem are triggered: Context: Standard Ubuntu 8.04 (with Gnome) installed on the Client (with OpenOffice and ubuntu-desktop installed), Ubuntu 6.06 or greater installed in the server with openssh-server installed 1) On the client, connect a directory to the client from the server using the Places-menu-system 2) Drag and drop some OpenOffice-documents and ascii-text-documents to the mounted share on the server 3) Fire up OpenOffice and Gedit 4) Using the Gnome Open dialogue: try to open, change and save one of the text-documents using gedit 5) Using the Gnome Open dialogue: try to open, change and save one of the openoffice-documents using openoffice On every machine I have tested this, step 5 stopped due to an extra password dialogue I don't know if this is a bug in gvfs-sftp, the Gnome-keyring-system, the OpenOffice-gnome-addition or else (fat fingers). But I know gvfs-sftp is new in Ubuntu 8.04 and this configuration worked like charm from 6.06 to 7.04 and with a few gliches in 7.10 (reinstall helped) . If the new gvfs-sftp require changes that is not done in the OpenOffice- Gnome-addition, or if its ment that the api used in OpenOffice-gnome- addition could stay untouched and the bug are located to gvfs or the keyring are a question which I don't have much to add. -- gvfs-sftp: openoffice can't open or save files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/234532 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 234532] Re: gvfs-sftp: openoffice can't open or save files
alfred_nutile: I have to now show people things like Freenx or setup vpn so people can work off site easily. Where as before I was able to say ssh (secure one port) and you have remote access. Now ssh and ftp are useless to work from with Openoffice and Nautilus. Exactly, we use ssh for almost everything, for local access and remote. We are targeting SME with not so many users, less than a hundred client computers on a local network. Using ssh for everything makes a transparent computer environment, users does not have to have in mind if the network is airbourne, if they work on a LAN, to a branch-office, from home or mobile. -- gvfs-sftp: openoffice can't open or save files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/234532 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 199088] Re: [Hardy] Message: Suspend Problem. Your computer failed to suspend
My experience on a T42p is slightly different: (1) This does not happen if all applications are closed when the system suspends. This is very consistent. I've tested the past few days with apps running and apps not running. I must quit all apps, even those running in the background like Pidgen, in order to get a normal resume the next day. (2) The next day I will get the [fglrx_enable_pat] *ERROR* Pat entry 2 is already configured message, the system will appear to hang with a blank screen except for a - in upper left corner and then it will shut down. I restart the system (it's then doing a cold boot), it loads okay, and upon restart all the apps that were running from the previous night are loaded and running. -- [Hardy] Message: Suspend Problem.
