[Bug 195929] Re: Cosmetic bug: rectangular white outline surrounding rounded buttons

Reading https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates seems to indicate
that this issue is not serious enough to warrant an SRU. Unless someone
says otherwise, of course ;-)

[Bug 238769] [NEW] File-save dialog crashes host application under openbox

2008-06-10 Thread Eric Montgomery
Public bug reported:

I have found that the two applications I have tested, gedit and firefox,
both crash when attempting to show the File-Save dialog. I run openbox
as my window manager instead of Gnome, which seems to be significant. I
have used the following scenarios to determine as best I can where the
crash is coming from.

Scenario: Log in through GDM into openbox WITHOUT running
gnome-settings-daemon, open gedit and attempt to save a file.
Result: File save dialog works, but looks ugly. It is not themed according to
what I configured in Gnome settings.

Scenario: Log in through GDM into Gnome, open gedit and attempt to save a file.
Result: File save dialog works and looks fine, themed according to my Gnome
settings.

Scenario: Log in through GDM into openbox with gnome-settings-daemon command in
my .xsession file, open gedit and attempt to save a file.
Result: gedit crashes with Segmentation fault as the only output to the
console.

This behavior is also happening when using firefox and trying to do a
Save Image As... on an image, which normally brings up the same dialog.

I apologize if this is mis-filed, but I'm not sure how to track down
where this should actually be directed.

[Bug 238767] Re: [Hardy] Cannot open audio file from Nautilus

2008-06-10 Thread A. Walton
This is actually not a bug in Nautilus.; VLC does not use the GIO/GVFS
system, but accepts cdda:// URIs of a different format (as you yourself
specified). VLC is an edge-case in this situation, as it clearly can
accept URIs in some cases, however not generally. This is probably a bug
/mis-feature in VLC, but they'll have to decide how they want to handle
it (be that have an input module for GIO, or not take VFS URIs from
Nautilus).

There's a subtle, well, miscommunication bug that might exist here. GVFS
claims the cdda scheme which is already in use by so many applications
that it may be disruptive to do so. Upstream is currently considering
renaming this scheme to cddafs to avoid this confusion. See
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=527159 for details.

[Bug 238767] Re: [Hardy] Cannot open audio file from Nautilus

2008-06-10 Thread A. Walton
As noted on the upstream GVFS bug, Rhythmbox, Totem, Totem-Playlist-
Parser and Soundjuicer all use different semantics for the CDDA scheme.
The former three due to GStreamer. That is the whole point of renaming
the scheme so that it doesn't collide with these applications.

[Bug 220957] Re: Fails to see blank CD/DVDs for writing

2008-06-10 Thread Martin Pitt
So hal sees the drive and the capabilities, but does not detect the
(empty) volume. Unfortunately I cannot tell much more from the currently
existing information here.

If you insert a blank CD-ROM, wait a bit, and do dmesg | tail in a
terminal, can you please copypaste the output here? The only line that
should appear after inserting a blank DVD is

[12993.587466] cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!

(different timestamp at the front, of course).

Also, it would be helpful to watch what hal is detecting. Can you please
do the procedure on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingHal and attach the
log? Then we can compare it with the output on a system where it works
(e. g. mine), see below.

For the record, I also have an ATAPI burner, and Hardy uses the SCSI
emulation.

[Bug 238817] [NEW] Evince and XPDF no longer print UK Royal Mail online stamps correctly

2008-06-10 Thread Paul Hirst
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

The UK Royal mail provide a service where you can print your postage
online. It provides you with a PDF file which you print out and attach
to your envelope. The problem is that on screen the PDF appears with
SAMPLE written across the middle of it, with a note that this won't
appear in the printed version. Unfortunately it does appear in the
printed version making the label useless.

Both Evince and XPDF as provided with Hardy exhibit this behaviour,
however the version of Xpdf provided with Gutsy worked correctly (ie the
label printed without SAMPLE written across it) but evince as provided
with Gutsy didn't print at all.

I was going to get the official Adobe Acrobat reader but there isn't a
x86-64 version so that's not really a valid workaround for my machine.

I have logged this against evince because I think the default PDF reader
should be able to cope with these files, although I guess it's also a
regression against Xpdf.

Just to be clear, the royalmail site does allow you to download a sample
before you pay and print the real thing, but this attachment is the
final paid for version not the sample.

[Bug 219062] Re: Could not read from resource error when playing encrypted DVD

2008-06-10 Thread wern
I am still experiencing the same problem as Mike is. I've even tried it
with Mplayer and no video is displayed nor audio played.

I installed libdvdcss2, libdvdread3, libdvdnav4 and ran the
/usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/install-css.sh script.

What else could be wrong?

[Bug 219062] Re: Could not read from resource error when playing encrypted DVD

2008-06-10 Thread wern
Another post I read suggested using totem-xine:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=672613

This worked for me. Oddly enough, after playing the dvd with totem-xine
totem-gstreamer worked (almost). Totem-gstreamer plays the DVD but does
not start with the dvd root menu. Under SMplayer I can now get it work,
but still no root menu.

In conclusion: either
 - the install for libdvdcss2, libdvdread3, libdvdnav4 and the install script
took a while to be used by the system
or
 - totem-xine scared them into submission.

[Bug 238212] Re: F-spot crashes when uploading to picasaweb

2008-06-10 Thread donatello
I tried your suggestions, and I guess it has something to with the
extensions. I deleted ~/.gnome2/f-spot and then started f-spot in debug
mode, tried uploading. My picasa password was saved so it appeared begin
to upload. An upload status window saying 0 of 18 MB done, and stayed
that way for a long time. After that I disabled all the other extensions
and tried it and the upload worked! There is a full log of this run in
the file named f-spot-debug-run-1 attached below.

I tried the process again with the extensions turned on. But this time
after f-spot started and I gave the upload command, the application
crashed. You can find the log in the attached file named f-spot-debug-
run-2

I tested it on a vanilla install of 8.04, then enabled hardy-proposed,
updated, and the fix worked okay.

closing as duplicate then, you should uninstall nautilus-action and try

[Bug 230998] Re: evolution leaves deleted messages strike through

2008-06-10 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
I was able to reproduce the issue with evolution 2.22.2-0ubuntu1.2, it
indeed leave a message as strike through when you delete them. After
installed the proposed version (2.22.2-0ubuntu1.3) i don't have the
issue anymore, deleting/moving works as expected (no strike through
anymore), bug is fixed, thanks.
