[Bug 112518] Re: Switch User freezes at blank screen
My system specs: * Ubuntu 8.04.1 Gnome with Compiz Fusion enabled * Installed NVIDIA packages: - nvidia-glx-new 169.12+2.6.24.13-19.45 - nvidia-kernel-common 20051028+1ubuntu8 When I switch user on Gnome and then subsequently logout from it to go back to the original user desktop, I get the white screen, which appears to be related to the gnome-screensaver. My solution: 1. Press CTRL-ALT-F1 to switch to virtual console. 2. Login with the same user account as the session with white screen. 3. Run command: pkill -9 gnome-screensaver 4. Press CTRL-ALT-F7 to switch back to original session... the white screen should be gone. Hope this provides more info about the issue. -- Switch User freezes at blank screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112518 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 249215] Re: abnormal button size in calc
I can confirm this bug. Apparently this bug is connected with broken Russian translation of this package. To reproduce this bug you can simply install support for Russian language using Localization manager (making it default language is not necessary), then install all updates (maybe, it is enough just to install update for gcalctool package) and then run gcalctool using the following command: #LC_ALL=ru_RU.UTF-8 gcalctool On the web I did find the solution for this problem, for example, you can install the following file http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14965110/gcalctool.mo instead of /usr/share/locale-langpack/ru/LC_MESSAGES/gcalctool.mo (that's why I've decided it's because of broken translation). [Bug 249215] Re: abnormal button size in calc
Upd: dpkg-query told me file gcalctool.mo belongs to language-pack- gnome-ru-base package. So, at least you'll need the most recent version of that package provided by hardy-updates repository to reproduce this bug. I have also tried to install previous version of this package from hardy repository (as well as language-pack-ru, language-pack-ru-base and language-pack-gnome-ru packages in order to meet dependencies), in this case buttons of gcalctool have normal size. First of all, I agree with mouz that Nautilus should support the function, because it suggests support, and because it's possible to support it. [Bug 250688] Re: evolution crashes when modifying to-do item in a separate window
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- evolution crashes when modifying to-do item in a separate window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250688 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 237130] Re: Swahili support broken
According to the langpack-locales package there does not exist any Swahili locale, neither sw_TZ, nor any other sw_* locale. The locale data is needed for any system to actually use that language. I can create a locale for Swahili for you, but would need the help of native speakers to translate the strings. The following strings are needed: int_curr_symbol (ex.: USD) currency_symbol (ex.: $) mon_decimal_point (ex.: .) mon_thousands_sep (ex.: ,) abday (ex.: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat) day (ex.: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday) abmon (ex.: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec) mon (ex.: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December) d_t_fmt (ex.: %a %d %b %Y %r %Z) d_fmt (ex.: %m/%d/%Y) t_fmt (ex.: %r) t_fmt_ampm (ex.: %I:%M:%S %p) am_pm (ex.: AM, PM) date_fmt (ex.: %a %b %e %H:$M:%S %Z %Y) yesexpr (ex.: ^[yY].*) noexpr (ex.: ^[nN].*) yesstr (ex.: Yes) nostr (ex.: No) Paperformat (A4?): height, width (297, 210) Measurement system: metric or US? name_fmt name_miss (ex.: Miss.) name_mr (ex.: Mr.) name_mrs (ex.: Mrs.) name_ms (ex.: Ms.) postal_fmt (ex.: %c%N%T%N%s %h %e %r%N%b%N%d%N%f%N%a%N) country_name (ex.: Tanzania) lang_name (ex.: Swahili) tel_int_fmt (ex.: +%c (%a) %l) tel_dom_fmt (ex.: (%a) %l) int_select (ex. 00) int_prefix (ex. 0) Plus, I would need the complete alphabet and the correct sorting order for Swahili. [Bug 172353] Re: Non-translatable emblem names.
I think I found out where the problem is. human-icon-theme package is not set up for translation of its icons. gnome-icon-theme instead is internally structured to be translated. tango-icon-theme and others doesn't have any problems because they fallback to gnome icons and then to its emblems translation. [Bug 250763] [NEW] Epiphany cannot remember passwords nor certficates after a restart
Public bug reported: Epiphany was working fine for me. I had a screen problem and restarted X, which killed Epiphany. But I want to insist that I did not upgraded anything on the system ! I just restarted X. 1) On the restart, Epiphany didn't ask me to recover tabs. Strange. In the console the following message is displayed : ** (epiphany-browser:16181): WARNING **: failed to read user preferences, error: 80004005 sys:1: Warning: value ((GaProtocol) 2) of type `GaProtocol' is invalid or out of range for property `flags' of type `GaProtocol' sys:1: Warning: g_hash_table_unref: assertion `hash_table != NULL' failed 2) All my stored password/cookies/certificates exceptions are lost 3) Epiphany ask me for a proxy password all the time without allowing to save it (as it can do usually which is really convenient) 4) Going to the Personnal Data Password tab crashes Epiphany. 5) It doesn't offer me to save a password although the option is well set. 6) It offers me to add an exception for a bad certificate but, unfortunatly, the Add exception button doesn't work. It doesn't do anything and I must close the dialog with the cancel button. There are some pretty similar bugs but all are a few months old and implies a browser upgrade. [Bug 250828] [NEW] custom path, name and type of ISO image causes brasero hangup
Public bug reported: When trying to write an image via the 1:1 Disc Copy mode I actually let Brasero decide the image-type (which is default). After modifying the images name (maybe from brasero.raw to foo.raw), or the directory to store it into, a window pops up with the question: Do you really want to keep the current extension for the disc image name? and the notification If you choose to keep it programs may not be able to recognize the file type properly. in the same window. From that point on it doesn't matter wether I choose YES or NO the whole thing is frozen. Sometimes clicking NO helps but then the underlying window CD/DVD-Image-Properties is frozen. Brasero uses as much CPU cycles a possible then. Maybe someone can tell me which logs or stuff to provide. Since I kill the process nothing is within the logs. [Bug 250849] [NEW] Wrong values in burn dialog
Public bug reported: There are two problems here using the gnome burn tools. 1. The burn dialog offers wrong speeds. I allready reported that problem ~2 years ago: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/67034 , the bug still exists in intrepid (up to date development version). 2. When there are two burning devices, a cd and a dvd device i can select one in the burn dialogs device selection box. In the speed selection box below that should be a list of speeds the device offers. But for me, if i choose the DVD-burner, there a speeds available that match the CD-Burner. And vice versa. I can confirm this bug for ubuntu hardy and intrepid pre-release. ** Affects: nautilus-cd-burner (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Wrong values in burn dialog https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250849 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus-cd-burner in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
