[Bug 191889] Re: [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager.
The 'iface eth1000 inet dhcp' trick didn't quite wok for me, but I'm not entirely sure I have the same issue. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 with a wireless connection (Intel 3945), and I use Opera rather than firefox, and what I've been experiencing is when I boot Ubuntu, the network manager applet shows Networking Disabled - I can't view SSIDs, it doesn't give me the option to create a network or manually configure a network, nothing. I run sudo dpkg-reconfigure network-manager and it starts behaving normally. So, it almost seems that whenever I shut down the laptop, something isn't getting cleared up, and when I boot it back up, whatever didn't get reset is jacking up the configuration so that it thinks networking is disabled. -- [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191889 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 252060] [NEW] Totem problems with S-Video on ATI Mobility Radeon X300
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem I've just made a brand new install of Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron so this problem is with Totem 2.22.1. I used Xrandr to configure the S-Video to work through my TV. Specifically I did xrandr --addmode S-video 800x600 xrandr --output S-video --mode 800x600 Totem runs but only displays the video on the LCD. To workaround this I ran this to turn the LCD off: xrandr --output LVDS --off and restarted Totem. This allows Totem to play. Next, I press F11 to go to full screen mode and X promptly crashes. WORKAROUND 1. Run Alt-F2 then type gstreamer-properties. 2. On the Video tab, for the Default output select X Windows System (No XV). 3. Close. The No XV option allows the movie to display on both the LCD and S-Video and full screen mode works. [Bug 126333] Re: Regression - Volume Control using gnome panel applet and keyboard shortcut alternates mute / % volume during sliding
This isn't fixed in Hardy. It is still there in the applet and the volume control. gnome-alsamixer doesn't have a problem, but the gstreamer-based volume control applet and gnome-volume-control still do. I have tried this on two computers with Hardy and it still happens with Intrepid too with two different sounds cards (a C-Media-based Turtle Beach Montego DDL and an Audigy2). I've tried all the patches and spent 6 hours debugging the problem on my own. It seems that the audio driver is giving me random values for volume indicating a problem at a lower level but I am certainly not sure this is the case. alsamixer and gnome-alsamixer work fine. So while the bug may not be in gnome-applets there is certainly a bug somewhere for some of us. ** Changed in: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = New -- Regression - Volume Control using gnome panel applet and keyboard shortcut alternates mute / % volume during sliding https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/126333 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 251991] Re: Mounted USB harddrive showes twice on the desktop - right click one of the icons and choose Unmount Volume results in error DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.NotFound:
@A.Walton - I can reproduce this each time I plug in a USB drive. [Bug 251976] Re: Copy disc sometimes fails, sometimes works
I am trying to copy a data CD. This is a normally formatted, once written CDR that I now need another exact copy of. (I should have made two to start with, perhaps...) I put the CD with my data on it into the drive. After a few seconds it automatically mounts and up comes a nautilus browser window. I already know what is on the disc and want to copy (duplicate) the whole thing, not use individual files. So I close the nautilus browser window. Now I can see the Gnome desktop. On the desktop is an icon for my data CD that I just put in the drive, the one that I want to make an exact copy (a clone) of. I right click on that icon to bring up the menu which has the option Copy Disc. I left click that option, to start the disc copy process. This far everything has worked as I would expect. Now that I have clicked to start the copy, up comes the Copy Disc Dialogue. For a few moments it is grey, then it turns to colour and I can use it. I am happy with the defaults so I click the Write button. After this one of two things happens; 1: the correct process of reading the disc to make an image, ejecting the original disc and prompting me to insert a blank disc and writing the image to it, with all the prompts and dialogues that I'd expect. This is success, and what I would expect. 2: after a few moments the Copy Disc Dialogue disappears and nothing happens. This is a failure, and not what I would expect. If the process fails (case two) then the icon for the original disc is still on the desktop, and if I start the process again by right clicking it I normally achieve a successful copy operation. What I did notice, having nineteen discs to copy, is that there is a reliable clue early in the process. When the Copy Disc Dialogue appears, the desktop icon for the original master disc in the drive (the one with data that I want to copy) should disappear from the desktop. If that happens, the copy process will complete. Sometimes the desktop icon for the original disc does not disappear when the Copy Disc Dialogue appears; in this case the copy process fails as in case two above. -- Copy disc sometimes fails, sometimes works https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/251976 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus-cd-burner in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 29560] Re: drag drop improvement: delay bringing window to front until mouse released
here's the respective bugzilla page for the associated meta-bug; http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133047 it's called: Bug 133047 – Fix and improve focus handling and DnD i don't understand the part, why the information about DnD or not DnD operation is so crucial. Doesn't it suffice to assign behaviour via MouseButtonDown and MouseButtonRelease events? let's hope this issue will be resolved soon, since i hear that fluxbox already handles this and it has been around for so long in gnome... -- drag drop improvement: delay bringing window to front until mouse released https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/29560 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 252088] [NEW] Gnome Menu - Places - Bookmarks: Folder icons not theme compliant
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This is happening on Intrepid Alpha 3: If you add a few bookmarks in Nautilus, they appear on the Gnome menu under Places - Bookmarks.
