[Bug 182704] Re: Multimedia Keys Don't Work

2008-07-28 Thread Lauri Niskanen
I have this problem now. There was never anything with the older
versions, but around Intrepid Alpha2 I got this problem. It worked fine
on the earlier Intrepid..

So the multimedia keys and some of the shortcuts don't work, if I have
numlock on. It depends on the target command, if it works. For example I
can start terminal with any key. Even with the multimedia keys. But
multimedia commands, calculator and lock the screen aren't working with
any key combination.

I have Razer Tarantula, if that helps.

[Bug 252487] [NEW] Additional field Start tracknumber in GUI

2008-07-28 Thread Markus Drexelius
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

The tracknumbers starts with number 1 for each CD that I insert. When
ripping multiple disk volumes (e.g. audiobooks) it would be very helpful
to change starting the numbering with a number other then 1.

I suggest to implement an additional field Start track number in the
GUI where the user can enter the number of the first track. Sound-juicer
than increases the number by 1 for each following track.

The feature disc number seems not to work with any mp3 player, e.g.
samsung YP-K3 doesn't sort the tracks with multiple discs in the right
order, so it seem, that it doesn't use the tag discnumber in a correct
way.

could you try to open a bug on bugzilla.gnome.org and attach your patch

overworked and not writting this code so you are just commenting at the
wrong place to get feedback on your changes, the bugtriagers can send

[Bug 252486] Re: Evolution crashes when attempting to scan incoming mail for spam

2008-07-28 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 252498] [NEW] [intrepid] gnome-keyring asks for SSH passphrase *every* time I use ssh

2008-07-28 Thread Anders Kaseorg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-keyring

As of a few days ago in my intrepid amd64 install, every time I use SSH,
I am prompted by a gnome-keyring dialog to unlock my SSH private key.
Even upon entering the correct passphrase, I am asked for a password on
the terminal asking me to enter the passphrase again. My passphrase is
never remembered no matter how many times I enter it. This makes SSH
and all applications that use it (e.g. version control tools) seriously
unusable with private keys.

[Bug 252504] [NEW] Unwanted and wanted buttons, translation swapped

2008-07-28 Thread sOLARiZ
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

In the Menue Toolbar there are two Buttons which used to mark message
either as unwanted (spam) or wanted (ham) in the german version
something is swapped there. The Icon with the mark as wanted text has
the mark as spam icon and description and the other way around. So Im
currently do not know what button I should click on.

So all in all this is no major fail but still confusing.

Marking the Nautilus bug as a duplicate of this one and bumping status
per the other bug. It's almost certainly a bug in the new volume monitor

[Bug 252237] Re: [gnome] normal volume control useless, various race conditions

2008-07-28 Thread xtknight
Sebastien,

I have a CPU that scales from 3.00 GHz to 2.00 GHz. This is the only
power management I use. That is the ondemand governor for my CPU and
it was enabled by default. I made no further changes to any power
management settings in Ubuntu. I get the issue even when pulseaudio is
removed from my system and confirmed not running through ps ax.

This might be worse with SMP although I'm not exactly sure why.

I have limited down the problem to a few packages. When I install the
Feisty packages listed here on my Hardy, the volume control functions
properly (although the volume icon is missing, that is irrelevant).
When I install the Gutsy ones, it breaks. Between Feisty and Gutsy is
where the breakage happened.

From Feisty {

libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0_0.10.14-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb
}

Furthermore,

I modified the Gutsy control-center-2.18.1/gnome-settings-daemon/actions
/acme-volume-gstreamer.c and control-center-2.18.1/gnome-settings-daemon
/gnome-settings-multimedia-keys.c files to match Feisty's control center
package.

Then I modified the gutsy source package gst-plugins-base0.10-0.10.14's
ext/alsa directory to the Feisty gst-plugins-base0.10-0.10.12 ext/alsa.
After compiling and loading the new Gutsy debs onto my Hardy, the volume
control functions properly.

sudo dpkg -i gstreamer0.10-alsa_0.10.14-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb

sudo dpkg -i gstreamer0.10-plugins-base_0.10.14-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb

sudo dpkg -i libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0_0.10.14-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb

So I loaded in my patches. I copied the gnome-settings-daemon out of
the new deb, placed in Hardy's /usr/bin. Killed the process and
restarted it. Then using the keyboard, the volume keys work properly as
I can see by running alsamixer in the background. No jumping to zero or
mess ups. gnome-volume-control also acts much more reliably with the
patched Gutsy libs.

Certainly I will be working on a patch to Hardy and Intrepid for this
but there was a lot of code that was changed (few hundred lines?) So it
may take some further investigation or intervention by the actual
developers on what went wrong between gstreamer rev 10.12 and 10.14.
But, the problem is now isolated to the gst-plugin-base ext/alsa
directory between 10.12 and 10.14 (and possibly gnome-settings-daemon
but that's more of a front-end change). I hope this helps.

I am going to try and limit down the problem further and provide a patch
but may need assistance there.

[Bug 252515] Re: [intrepid] getting segfaults now and then

2008-07-28 Thread Chris Coulson
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. In fact, I think you need to
explicitly enable Apport in Intrepid too at the moment.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 252487] Re: Additional field Start tracknumber in GUI

2008-07-28 Thread Markus Drexelius
My intention is not to obligatory implement it in the main window, but
to implement this feature in general to sound-juicer (in which place /
dialogue box is another question).

It is a great feature of the MS windows based cdex software,
escpecially for ripping audiobooks that's popularity increasing more and
more. But this software is only available for windows.

There is no real reliable solution to rip audio books with sound juicer
to play audiobooks in a right way on mp3 players, so I have to fallback
continously to windows (what is a horror for me ;-)

So, you think I have to open an additional bug-report at gnome bugzilla?

After an system update through update-manager it sometimes requires a reboot
and shows this with a little notification icon. So far so good, but I did today
recognize that if I hit it and press then reboot now(or similar, I have

2008-07-28 Thread Regent
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

Yesterday i installed a lot Ubuntu alone on my Dell 521 and then a lot of
updates from you then I installed my NVidia driver and all went well.
This morning my computer refused to wake up so I shut it down and reopened it
but now the resolution is 800 X 640 and it's impossible to change.

I went into installed driver and it says that my Nvidia is working
